I have resonated test pipes and the XYZ pipe w/ resonated section right now. I also have the stock y-pipe back exhaust (waiting on the VQ from Motordyne). There is very-very little if any rasp with this setup. The XYZ is an excellent y-pipe and the sound is perfect. As far as gains go, look at the Motordyne web page. I did not do a before/after dyno so I can't chime in. As soon as the VQ comes in I'll do a before/after comparison with all stock vs. all Motordyne....and of course, same day, same dyno, same relfash prior to each.

People switch to aftermarket y-pipes to benefit from an improved design. A good y-pipe will merge at the optimum point; the point where the most horsepower can be yielded.

Also people will switch y-pipes to match proper inner diameters of the exhaust pipes. IMO, matching the inner diameters of the exhaust pipes is important. Going from a wider pipe into a narrow pipe will result in exhaust gases being interrupted by the transition from a wider diameter to a narrower one. It will also sound bad.

A good match of diameters, for example, my Nismo exhaust and Berk HFCs.

My Berk cats inner diameter (~2.25"):

My Nismo y-pipe inner diameter (~2.25"):

Much better air flow (designed/bigger pipe), most of aftermarket Y-pipe has 2.5 inlet/3" outlet size. I replaced nismo y-pipe to AAM y-pipe, you can see outside thru pipe ( that make sense?? oh my poor english).

But you need to replace exhaust system for better airflow/power, i do believe just a hfc/y-pipe won't do much untill you replace exhaust system.

gsingh350Z & xhooniex83 ,,,thank you guys that was very helpfull

for changing the whole exhaust system ,, i just came back to the stock exhaust (i used to run APS 2.5" TD) because of the loss lowend power and the drone kills me although not that high but i hate it , i`ll take my time to go back to aftermarket exhaust again (i hope ther will be one with three NO`s and one Yes) :
NO Loss power
NO RASP (with HFC ,,well i love this mod)
NO Drone
YES Power Gain (i know not much but not lossing at least)
let`s hope ( nismo & Bassani are the most complet but looking for perfict if ther is ) please if i`m wrong about them let me know.

edit : ooh , i just found a thread telling bassani + HFC too much rasp
still hopping

2.5 TD is too big size. Go with smaller size.

Me/gsingh350Z we owned nismo.
