Default Borla Dual Owners w/ test pipes please read

Do you get a noticable vibration in the pipeing at around 3500 rpms under low-moderate throttle, or when slowing down and the rpms are around 2800ish???

I think he's talking about the Borla + Test Pipes = pipe rattleing exhaust flow.

that just happens to be the resonant frequency of the piping...

at certain frequency's matterials react different... some resonate at one frequency and wont at all on any other....

your going to get some resonance unless you find the exact frequency tone your engine is making and then finding the exact point where the wave frequency makes the exaust resonate and put a damper on it (like a cello player does with the strings below the bridge)...

on a true dual system you can have 2 totally different frequency's just a bit off from eachother...

I too notice this raspiness if you will at around 3500 RPM or so. Just WOT 100% of the time and you won't have to deal with it. :-)

The Borla with Headers with Cat Pipes sounds SOOOOO damn good, I cant get enough of it!!!

Now I am getting the itch for these "test pipes" anyone throwing any lights and where is the best place to get them? I have Borla true dual and headers and my car is blown. My SC is louder than my exhaust. My cats are holding me back I'm sure (at the track.)
I don't want to pay then wait 3 weeks either like one deal I was looking into. Who are people using to buy them?

Thanks every1 for the input . Yea I am talking about the borla td w/ no cats. I figured that the rattling is due to the exhaust flow which has been greatly increased. And I also think it is centered around the H pipe / clamping. I can relate the noise to ticking when reving in neutral, I wonder if the clamps & piping sections are just getting rattled to $h-t. I'll see if I can get the car on a life today or something to try and figure out what may be causing the problem. I know the freq. reson. has a big deal to do with it, just wonder if that resonance is causing the noise which some welding can fix

Hell yea, the sound is major kik a$$ zoasis . Plus the no cats umph . Like Konverter menitoned earlier about resonance and ihiustler w/ the H pipe section, I think that clamp is taking a beating from the air flow. Now that I think about it, it really seems to sound more like rattilng than raspiness. There still is raspiness, but not much, and besides, if someone wants to run w/ me, then they will hear a whole totally different tone

So, guys who have tried Borla exhaust both with and without headers, did you notice any real difference in performance or sound?

I'm still debating whether to sell my headers unused and use the money for something more beneficial, or to pay the extra installation cash and get them put on.

I can't say for sure since I had the headers put on before the Borla. I can say that the Z is WAY quicker than stock, several car lengths up to 70 or so. I'd pay to have them put on if I were you. Unless you haven't gotten pullies yet, then I'd sell the headers and go for the pullies. Or maybe swaybars, or CAI, damn, there's so many good mods!!!

Thanks!, Saw the pengiun b**** slap and had to go with it, just like the very first time I laid my eyes on the Z concept!!!! LoL

Buub,
As for headers and extra performance, like Zoasis, I had mine put on before the Borla exhaust, cat pipes, or plenum. I can say that the headers did give the car more of a "solid" acceleration and they did seem to make a good improvement. But 2k all together after install is a heafty as hell price. If you aren't going with headers and still want more "feelable" performance, I'd say go with the Nismo flywheel & UR pully set. That should be a good kik in the a$$ from reviews I've heard here on the forum . But I definately love putting the headers on the car, and I did feel a difference when I had them on when I was closer to stock. IMHO I'd say slap em on the car since you already have them

So anyone resolve this noise issue yet or at least found out whats causing it?

Maybe dynamat makes a high-temperature version?
