Which Headers to buy?
I was thinking about purchasing some headers for my Z, and was wondering if anyone could expalin and rationalize to me why the Borla headers go for ~$490, the nismo go for $1,200 and the Velside are priced at $2,200? Is there any diffreence between these different brands of headers?
borla is not equal length, and i heard theres not much, if any, gains from them.
nismo looks equal length (should've measured mines before i had them installed). i think nismo claims 10-13 hp gains or something.
havent heard of veilside's headers.

There is only ONE set in existance for the Z that IS equal length, and it is currently chopped apart having a 2nd prototype being built.
Please reference www.crawfordzcar.com go under R&D for both photos and dynos.
Thanks!

I'd say wait for the Crawford Z headers. They're $1200 and they are equal length. After talking to Doug I'm kinda kicking myself in the *** for not putting my $600 down on his headers and not buying the Borla headers.

Well, power is kinda confusing with these headers. The Nismos advertise 9+ HP through most of the rpm range with a peak of 13 HP (doesn't say where). Meanwhile, the Crawfords say they make 15 HP on the top end (does this mean at the redline??). And if that 15 HP is at the redline, what does the Crawfords make at the peak??
Now if we are talking 15 HP "on the top end" as in the redline, then they actually make less power on a stock car then their plenum, which costs much less. Of course, to get more power, you have to pay, lol.

If you have or gonna put a Cats Pipes GO w Borla the gains can be up to 15 WHP headers along and you can save more money. if your not gonna put the cats pipes whait for the Cr. or go w Nismo.
I was thinking about this before I went to bed last night...
If the headers were truely Equal Leignth then wouldnt the air being moved meet at the exact same time from 2 of the cylanders at once? there for the air having to push its self along with some more air to get into the colector area where the headers meet?
i bet Nismo's headers compensate for the engine timing so the air never gets to the collector at the exact same time so it can move with least resistance?
am i nutz?

I have decided to go with the Nismo headers. Thanks for all the input. The only problem is that I heard that they are a pain in the ****! to install.
Alex30327, their actually very simple to install. Its just time consuming. It took me about 12 hours to install but I also took my time. I can easily install them in about 6 hours. If you decide to do it yourself I have a wrench I can sell you that you will need to install the header on the drivers side. Without the this wrench you will have to cut the stud on the head which is not a good idea.
