I'd like to hear your car in person sometime at a meet or somethin though.. Good to see people coming up w/ their own exhaust systems that are gaining a good amount of HP!

Sure, next meet I will go and you can hear it in person. It truely is a more deeper and aggressive sound than "video".

Sounds pretty good but I agree with z461, I like the Borla better. It sounds almost Italian to me.

It looks a little out of place with the one empty space in the rear bumper.

Maybe if you wax it up with that special top secret Ferrari/Lambo stuff, it'll sound even better!

If I wanted that "wannabe exotic" sound I think I would of kept my old setup... (removed the resonator). Actually, does not look out of place and looks more like a JDM car you see with the single like the Trust car from Japan. Like I said before this is actually not for everyone, but fits my current future setup 100%. I give respect to Borla for their nice HP gains, but I would rather RICE my car out first than putting american products in my Z just not the style i am looking for... Unless that company was only for japanese cars again don't want to get on this subject...

Wicked what are the specs on your tires and rims. I think you have volks gt7's. correct.

Volk GT 7 19x8.5 in the front and 19x9.5 in the rear
235x35x19 front and 275x30x19 in the rear..

yea...seriously thats the only reason stoppin me for gettin borla..itz american made.
i know injen is also american made..but more imports carry their products

Whether or not Borla is made in the USA, I think many people on this forum agree to its excellent quality and performance. Now if you go and buy crap like APC and put it on your Z...I will cry for your car....

Im not arguing about their workmanship and quality... Borla is a superior company and I have personally sold their exhaust systems to Mustangs, Camaro's etc...

My motive's in modifying a car is different than most of you guy's on this message board and I am sure some might agree with me. I have been in the import scene a very long time most of you didn't even know it existed, that's why its easy for me to get sponsored by company's because I already have a reputation. The image I am trying to portray or how I modify my car limits me to select certain company's to use their products. I look it at it like this...

If HKS started making cat-back exaust systems for Mustangs, I am sure their would be a contreversial issue. Granted HKS makes Excellent quality parts, just like Borla. But HKS Market is Imports. And any domestic buying "HKS" Cat-back im sure would get bashed on regardless of its workmanship. I know it kinda sound's like a closed minded issue, but I feel like a "Sell out". And its more a personal issue, cause I have seen local members with "borla" nice quality, but not my style. And I can see when I first came to this board I would say a great variety of you guys are sure new to the import scene... And all you guys care about is Horsepower! Sure, I care about Horsepower... My mind is set, I will be getting turbo's and with that I will have enough horsepower where I will be satisfied. But one thing is for sure, Borla exhaust will not be good for boosted car's and that's due to their design of muffler, I can bet money on that! And anyone who has has "turbo" like myself knows this. Anyhow, just wanted to get this straight, I don't hate borla.. And if I had a mustang BORLA would be the company I would get hands down. I know someone mentioned "Injen" being American, and that's fine, but their market is geared towards Imports and I wouldn't mind Putting Injen on my car.. Again this is personal and I don't hate anyone with Borla or any other company that builds products mostly for domestic.

But when I hear BORLA I think of Mustangs....

I think you have the right idea. HKS is top grade quality, and your exhaust looks insanely hot. I just wanted to ask a few questions about your car. I know your rims are the Volk GT7, but what color are they and what size are they? Are those 19s, and if they are, how does your car handle...better or worse then stock? How much did you spend for your rims and tires, I think they are so hot. Was the HKS titanium carbon fiber meant for a specific car and the shop modified to fit the Z, or was it the Titanium Carbon Fiber that was meant to fit general purpose turbo cars? And for whoever wants to answer this question, would you lose too much back pressure if you decided to go dual Titanium carbon fiber exhaust and lose horsepower as a result if you turbo the 350z? It would probably be too loud at that point, wouldn't it? Thanks ahead of time!

They look gunmetal, definately 19", probably 8.5f and 9.5r

I think it is a universal turbo muffler. There are some identical to it on eBay around $125. I believe he got the shop to mandrel bend some pipe and attached it to the universal muffler.

While some backpressure is good in NA applications, it is the enemy in FI applications... the less the better... about loudness, I would tend to think it would be LESS loud with dual exhaust instead of singular, as the sound would be dispersed between two pipes, and a larger percentage would be muffled...

I have to say that I think the less backpressure was good for NA, I ran open headers on my car and it was a good kik in the a$$ . I think whatever you do to car is cool in the first place, long as you like it. Now for me, I didnt think a single muffler would look good until I saw this guys's car, in which case it looks bad a$$. I give him props for not giving a $hit what people think and just doing it. That car looks wicked. I just got my borla dual on my car, and even though it's kitteny in relation to open headers, I like the sound. I like Injen's SES, as well as this sound, anything loud and mean is great . Kik a$$ work on the car man, that thing looks & sounds killer!

I will know the price this weekend, since the piping is mandrel bent it won't be welded like mine... This will be "true" mandrel bent so I am getting the details. The kit will contain everything for easy installation even instructions and gasket or accessories needed. Picture will be posted later, no time to take pictures right now...

The HKS is a Universal Titanium Carbon Fiber meant for turbo applications with a 3" inlet. If you go dual you get more back pressure, and when you go turbo it gets a lot quiter.

Honestly I don't give a *uck what people say, and funny thing is I get so many people asking about the parts I use so I must be doing something right.... Specially my Exhaust setup!

Kinda off topic, but I'm getting tired of people wanting to get or descibing they want an exotic sound to their car. Last time I checked a Nissan was a Japanese car, not Italian. And the 350Z is a sports car, not an exotic. Personally, I would like my car to have a deep tone down throughout the powerband like a Supra, which Injen's SES most Japanese exhaust sounds similar too.

Borla is a good company, but you guys rave about it like it's the only thing you should put on your car. And if any decides to choose something that is different like HKS or Injen it is termed "ricey". I though a car that was "rice" was a car that put something on that didn't belong on the car. For example, a 350Z owner who had a Mugen sticker on the car. That would be "ricey". Then there are those that don't want to have their car sound like a Civic, coffee can, or whatevers. But hey, all Civics with N1 style mufflers sound like that. You know why? Cuz it's a four-cylinder! And so do all the other 4-cylinders with N1 style mufflers.

The 350Z will always have a deeper tone even with N1 style muffers because it's a 6-cylinder. All inline-6's and V6's will sound similar. Well, I'm not too much into the domestic scene, but Supra's, Skyline's, Soarer's, Aristo's, 350Z, G35 will be similar.

I know most of you guys here have never been much into the import scene until you bought the 350Z. And a lot have switched over from the domestic cars. So most of you don't know and just follow the masses in this forum. And because of this, most of you need to check yo self before flaming others about the parts they purchased that is specifically made for that vehicle.

Peace!

Since when is an "exotic" car not a SPORTS car? I would go so far as to say that all exotic cars are sports cars but not all sports cars are exotic cars.

Next, thanks for letting us know that Nissan isn't Italian.

Finally, In reference to your comment on wanting your car to sound like a Supra, last time I checked, the 350Z was a Nissan not a Toyota.

On another note, Wicked Your car looks awesome! I love that look.

I love the sound of that exhaust! Great choice. My only issue is that I prefer a dual outlet. If I can get that sound with a dual outlet setup I'd be sold.

In a naturally aspirated engine you need some back pressure to keep exhaust velocity up. With the right amount of exhaust velocity a vacuum is created just outside the exhaust port sucking the exhaust charge out of the cylinder.

For turbo exhaust systems the only important thing is to reduce back pressure as much as possible so the turbo can spool up as fast as possible.

This is my understanding of things. Somone else may want to drop a little more science on the subject.
