Default Stuck! Please help! (Turbo XS Exhaust)

Hey,

I'm stuck in the middle of my turbo xs exhaust install. I am trying to connect the midpipe to the y-pipe and i received the oddest piece to use, the spring spacer as pictured below. It doesn't bolt on tight enough and leaves the pipes wiggling and donut exposed!

Mine is sitting in my basement waiting to be installed. It's too cold right now for turning wrenches in my driveway.

I just went downstairs to look at mine and looks like the spring bolt should be seated on the midpipe side which is the flange that can be moved. The hole on that side is bigger to accomodate that pass through thingy that the bolt goes through. You should be able to tighten it from the ypipe side. If that is not working, what is really the problem? Is it that the bolt is too long and you run out of thread?

Yeah I figured that was the only way after playing around with it. Well the M8 bolt slips right through one of them and comes out too far, leaving a couple of mm and the other one has the m8 screw in first but still leaves a couple of mm out. Therefore, that donut gasket is still loose and i figured that the spring would make up for it?? I don't know this is frustrating though.

In other words yes, ran out of thread.

I also tried putting the spacer in between the flanges and the thread ends perfectly even because of the spacer but it still leaves the donut exposed and moveable.

Ziggyrama would you mine fiddling with yours a little and shedding some light?

You don't have the springs. Email Sales@turboxs.com we'll get a set of springs out to you.

Thanks,

Jermaine~

Thanks blacktuner. This is very, very inconvenient......as you guys aren't open on the weekends.

Is the donut gasket suppose to be exposed at all?

It's a mistake they happen. If you want to you can just use fixed bolts. The donut gasket should be exposed by a few mm. Nothing huge.

Update:

Well Turboxs sent out the springs yesterday, I think, so hopefully I can get 'em on today. The car is on jacks and has been on jacks for a good week now. Yay.

On the random did anyone else have a problem with the muffler being misaligned or missing a hangar on the right side?

Ah nice. I got the springs today and everything is fine now, no rubbing where the mid-frame is but I think i'm getting the rubbing against the black box, a common problem anyway.

Note to all considering this exhaust: The drone is ridiculous.

Is it very noticeable while driving on the highway. Have you tried the silencers with it.

The overall sound is good, but it IS on the louder side (8/10). I love the 3-4k rpm grumble, it sounds like stock but much louder. Wide open throttle is sex as well, a little more on the high pitch side might I add.

The drone however, is unbearable to me. You can't miss it, you will hear it around the low rpms and on the highway. If you like your music loud then it shouldn't matter.

At the moment I have a pending buyer on this exhaust, if it falls through i'm doing whatever I can to kill that drone.

I have not. I'll have to try it sometime, I hope it kills the drone. I'd only put them in when the gf is in the car.

Cool thats what I needed to hear, as long as it's loud I feel I'll be getting my moneys worth.

^LOL

Yeah, I really enjoyed my Tanabe Hyper Medallion because it had little to no drone, looked great, and sounded phenomenal @ WOT but one thing it could never give me, unless I went with test pipes, is the satisfying and loud revs that I can bark back with the Turboxs at the stoplights.

However I still hate the drone, crappy muffler welds, and the looks of the exhaust but everything else is good.

Oh and Emperor, MAKE SURE you have all of the components that you see in the picture in the first post. If you don't just contact Z1 or Turboxs, they will take care of you.

Seems that you are dissatisfied with the exhaust, let me know how it is with the silencers cause Im going to put the exhaust on Friday. I dont mind a loud exhaust if it sounds nice and not like a damn lawnmower. Do you think it sounds like rice.

Funny thing is that when you're at idle the thing is damn near silent, the second you step on it 1-2k is loud as ****. As far as rice the drone/early rpms may qualify. There's some rasp and it's a mellow sound. I won't call it rice but I will say it's embarrassing to drive at times. If I can cure the drone and find new tips I will be happy as a mother fudger.

I too have the TurboXS, but to me the drone isn't bad. I suppose I kind of expected a little 'something' more than a stock sound though. Personally I think this exhaust sounds mean...

Compared to my streetported, full exhaust, T78 rx7 with no cats and an open wastegate... this thing is like hearing an ant whisper.
