damaged y pipe question
my stock exhausts y pipe has a small hole in the woven parts of the Y from scraping/bottoming out on things. will this create an exhaust leak if I throw it back on? is there any simple way to have it repaired?
I can throw a picture up tomorrow if it's helpful.

I stupidly gave away my Y pipe when I got my aftermarket set up, the one I picked up to replace it for my stock setup is pretty abused, and the braiding is worn through and has a couple of small holes.
no simple fix, but I imagine it is going to leak air, is it even worth using? would a metal circle clamp around the part that has a hole help out at all? I worry if I put this on it'll sound like **** and I should look for another Y pipe, but I drove about 90 mins out to pick this one up so checking on if it's worth using.

You can shread through the braided section and still not have a leak. The important thing is to not perforate the bellows.
Can you poke a small wire through the damaged area? If yes, it will leak.
I can't imagine a "viable" fix for perforated bellows though. A welder will only blow a bigger hole in it and a clamp won't seal it.
You can probably pickup a used stock y pipe for pretty cheap.

thanks for the solid info guys. yeah, this one was 20$, I was just a little pissed since this wasn't disclosed prior to the 90 min drive out. I'll take a closer look at it tomorrow when there's some sun light!
