Default Personal experience needed in sound of exhaust

The best I can do is listen to speakers of these exhaust through the computer. There is no way I could hear one in person because where I am from I have never even seen a modded Z. I wanted someone who has personally heard fujitsubo and Nismo and could tell me how close they are in sound and what the main difference is.
Thanks

They really sound nothing alike. The Fujitsubo is both deeper, quieter at idle and milder sounding than the NISMO. The Fujustibo Y pipe is also a far better made piece (no failures) vs the NISMO one, which has been plagued with issues

there are plenty of modded Z's in Tennessee

So from the cars you have heard you think the fujitsubo sounds better than nismo?

here is the experience for this; what may sound good for one person sounds like crap for another. that being said there is no way anyone can verbally describe what you will like or dislike with an exhaust sound.

and to agree with what was said above, there are plenty of modded Z's in TN

Yes, I think the Fujitsubo sounds better than the NISMO does, and I think it's a better made system as well. The downside, is it's more expensive, but IMHO, carrying both systems, I think it's money well spent. I owned a Fujitsubo stainless system on my car for awhile. A local customer needed a new exhaust, made me a good offer on my stainless one, and since I had a Fujitsubo Ti in stock at the time, I upgraded to that. That was about 4 years ago now, and I have no plans to ever change it again. I love it, and it suits my own tastes perfectly. I don't want something that drones, and I especially don't want something that looks blatantly aftermarket - I like a nice, clean looking system, that is unobtrusive when I am cruising and gives an authoritative note when I get on it. I don't want it obnoxiously loud, I don't like angled mufflers or super polished parts, and if I can shed a few lbs vs stock, all the better. Those are my tastes. My setup, even with headers (Crawfords) and test pipes, fulfills those needs for me. I know you've spent some time on youtube, and I know the quality of the videos there can vary widely. But, you can certainly get a reasonably good feel for which systems have which characteristics even if they aren't dead on accurate. I personally would seek out videos that show cars in motion, vs cars just sitting still (or a ideally a combo of both).

If you are still stuck, make plans to attend ZDayz (www.zdayz.com), at the end of May at The Dragon, and there you'll find hundreds of Z's and G's with just about every conceivable exhaust combination possible, and you can hear them for yourself.

He knows what he is talking about, its all about preference and how much your willing to spend for quality.

this is the first I've heard of issues with the nismo Y pipe - not saying they don't exist, I am genuinely curious to hear about them, can you fill me in?

I might trade my exhaust for a nismo set up, want to make sure I know what I'm getting in to or if I'm better off just going back to stock.

I love the search response, it's so much easier to spend to spend 10 mins to find something someone could have summarized in a sentance or two if they had the info handy.

anyways, finally found some good info after a few failed search strings and ended up reading it in a random thread that wasn't "about" problems with the Y pipe.

seems the flex joints in the nismo y pipe are prone to failure with certain TP/HFC combinations. I wasn't able to find someone with an issue with stock cats/headers, so I feel ok about it.

I guranteed you will want to add HFC in future. HFC + nismo = so sweet.

Rather than complaining that no one spoon fed you the info that's been posted many times over, how about "thanks for bringing it to my attention, I had no idea there were such issues"? I had summarized the issue above, and the issue is well documented by people all over the place. If you want more detailed info, it's a search away, and all the info, both detailed and generalized, you could ever hope to gather is right at your disposal.

I personally have replaced ~ half dozed NISMO Y pipes with cars with factory cats - the issue is with the Y pipe itself, not with the part being bolted to the Y pipe. The exhaust itself is good...I would not use the Y pipe portion, there are better options

+ 1,

i had chance to put nismo y-pipe and AAM y-pipe on table one time, only thing that i didn't like about nismo is flex joint, very hard flex joint compare to AAM's. I figured why people had issue with cracking a pipe ( some does/some doesn't ).

Edit: here is my exhaust sound clip.

thanks for that - thats the kind of info I like to hear. the search function is great in theory but the titles are always misleading and you really have to dig to find anything worth while. I've spent hours trying to find info when someone wouldnt take the time to write a sentance or two for me.

I practice what I preach as well, I constantly give people info when I could just say 'search'

anyways, I am either going stock and selling my setup, or swapping my setup for a nismo set up, I don't really want to invest any more money in parts so I don't want to deal any potential issues. I guess I'll just be selling. thanks for the info.

wow, I appreciate you putting your time into that. As I was saying earlier, I know youtube videos are not always accurate and the nismo and fujitsubo sound similiar and I just wanted someone that has heard both of them. I myself am looking for something clean that you car hear and has a good sound but at the same time I do not want anything to drone because it is a daily driver and I hate it when the cabin of a car you have to yell at the person beside you to hear them.
