Default Injen CAI installed...question though...

I just got my Inejn SES exhaust and CAI installed today. My only problem is that the installer installed the Injen CAI without using the tube that extends it lower so that it sits in front of grill. Instead it is where the JWT popcharger sits (right where the stock air box was. Since the shop did the entire CAI install for free as well as the exhasut, I didn't make a big deal about it, but I am planning on bringing it to my friend's shop to fix it so that it sits lower so that it catches more air. Does anyone else think that the CAI is being rendered uselss in this location???

Here is a picture I just took of the CAI in the dark...I will post full pics of the exhasut in daylight later...

Sucking hot, less compressible air from inside the engine bay to add more power at point of ignition in the cylinders doesn't make good sense, IMHO.

Those are my thoughts as well... Is the JWT popcharger doing this as well too (sucking more hot air, etc.) ???

The kit was designed to go both ways. It can be a short ram, or a cold-air. I ran mine as a cold air however...

It is not too difficult to move it to the front from this point, you just remove the front bumper, remove the filter, insert the black silicone pipe, bolt in the 45 degree metal pipe to underneath your bumper reinforcement, and then attach your filter. hooray!

that looks like a short ram intake to me. i think its considered a cold air only when you add that second tube that puts the filter lower and directly behind the front bumper.

He said he did install the heat sheild. He said that he didn't take the old sheild out and now I have 2 of them...does that make sense to you guys that installed it yourself?

I just called them up (the shop that did this work for free) and they said to bring it back in and they will extend it for me. The tech told me today that the only reason he didnt use the extra piping is becasue he thought it would take away from the cars looks (having the CAI filter visible from the front bumper). I told him that I didn't care......and that I just want the best use of the CAI.

It looks awesome in the front bumper! But the filter will not stay pretty for long.
