Default Intake question...

One of my friends told me before installing your intake disconnect the battery terminals, leave it like that for 4-6hours. After your intake has been assembled added on to your engine, connect the battery terminals, start the engine, and your good to go. He said it's like doing a reflas, cause it reprograms the ECU to the new air flow, thus giving you the best HP gain. Is that true?

If you are messing with any electronic sensor, MAF for example, it is always a smart idea to disconnect the battery.

You should disconnect it but not for the reason your friend states. The ECU is constantly adjusting to actual conditions so in a way it is constantly learning. I know there are some who might disagree with me so it's just my $.02. Either way, disconnect and you are covered - won't short anything out by accident, or zap yourself.

Def a good idea to disconnect. Just remember that it will reset your trip meters, just in case you are keeping track of anything. Also radio presets and time are gone. I know it's minor but I just thought I would remind you. I was using both of my trips for record keeping, forgot to write them down.
