Too Loud!!
I just had megan racing resonated test pipes and megan racing headers installed on my 03. I already had an Apex'i N1 dual exhuast, Motordyne 5/16 spacer, Stillen Intake, Megan racing y-pipe installed on the car.
The car is RIDICULOUSLY loud now - I can't take it.
Any suggestions from the experts or those who may have dealt with something similar?
Thx,
Duke

At certain RPMs, it's raspy loud...basically no matter how fast I'm going or if I ease the gas down or mash it, it's loud.
I took a video yesterday, but it's at home and I'm working. I could post later on.

OP you need to either get a different exhaust or take out the test pipes, no other way around it really.
haha...you guys are right, and I was warned by a few people it would be loud. Some like it really loud, but I'm not one of those people. Plus the car is my daily driver and I have to sometimes visit clients. Probably wouldn't look too good when I come into their parking lot with the loud set-up I have. I guess I am looking for exhaust suggestions that go good with the set-up I have.
Hilarious thread. Did you think no restriction at all on a big 3 inch single exhaust would be quiet lol. Instead of putting the stock cats back in I would try getting a motordyne VQ exhaust or similar to take the least hit in performance, car would probly sound like sex too.
I feel you man, I had non-res. test pipes on my hks and it was way too loud as well. I switched to HFC...couldn't be happier with the sound. I would go that route before you change catbacks.
i have 1/2" spacer, headers, test pipes, jic y pipe, and jic single exhaust. its special Olympics retarded loud! luckily i can use a silencer with my jic exhaust. now it's only semi retarded loud.

With test pipes and headers it will sound beautiful.
Motordyne has something cooking for those looking for performance and something a bit more subdued in tone!
No exhaust manufacturer currently caters to this market segment - I think it'll be a hit. I for one am tired of the noise.

OP,
You should look into a set of HFC's. I had test pipes on my old z, with the nismo exhaust.. Oh lord the drone..
I was too embarrassed to drive her and had them removed at the first opportunity.
I switched out to HFC's and all was well..
I would totally agree.. just waiting on some more MRev3 info before I buy, buy, buy!

Just from my own experience, strup headers + FI resonated TP's + FI intimidator catback worked pretty well. For a setup w/ test pipes & headers, it was pretty quiet.
Another suggestion is the motordyne XYZ-pipe, you can add a small cat to the y-pipe and keep the megan testpipes. From there MD lets you choose whatever setup from the y-pipe back. He's got a "VQ" muffler, VQ being short for "very quiet".
