Default Another HFC question?

hey guys, Happy Easter/Holidays.....im starting to mod my car slowly by slowly. ive added the nismo dual intake (due to a good deal) and i was recommened to get HFCs rather than test pipes. i like the low pitch sound of the 350z stock exhaust so would it be pointless to get HFC's with a stock exhaust? also, i heard the HFC's make the exhaust louder but does the car still remain that low pitch or does it make it a higher pitch sound? sorry for the "noobish" questions and thank you for your help.

There's nothing wrong in running HFCs with a stock exhaust, you'll still see some power increase over stock. However, adding a full exhaust system will definitely help you make more power since you're going to have maximum air flow. Since you're keeping the stock exhaust, I doubt your car will get much louder. Just don't get test pipes if you are looking to stay quiet.

but with the HFC's, will it get louder at all? and if it does, does it still retain the low pitch sound or does it become higher pitched? i cant really judge from youtube videos cuz in person, it sounds different and im sure you guys would know. thanks

It will get louder but not that much, I doubt you'll be able to tell the difference.

I did the HFC's first, and it was noticably louder with everything thing else stock. Not real loud, but definitely enough to notice.

I'v done it as well... do it its a good mod bang for the buck wise... you'll hear the difference for sure... not much but you will hear it. And I found my throttle response was a lot quicker.

I'd have to say about the same pitch, just somewhat louder.

Its not another HFC question just the same question phrased differently.

If you want performance go with test pipes.

If you are searching for some exotic pitch or sound I cant help.

who said anything about an "exotic pitch or sound"???? all i asked was after installing HFC's, i was told it makes an audible difference and i wanted to know if in any way it makes the pitch higher(like a "ricer" for example) which i dont want. why do you come on here and type the most nonsensical things and post almost 20 times a day??

HFC's will definitely make your exhaust note louder, but the exhaust itself (diameter, style, etc) will determine whether your pitch will be lower or not. IMHO, anytime you change out your exhaust...chances are it will be lower and deep.

If you plan on sticking with stock exhaust with HFC's it should keep the low exhaust tone that you prefer however there will be a noticeable difference in volume. *FYI: I would not recommend using test pipes with stock exhaust...it will like you said become raspy and "ricer-like".*

Good luck on the decision bro.

Yeah i agree w/ getting HFC's paired with stock exhaust.

I got my berk metallic HFC's since last september and love it. I'd say its maybe 2 steps louder compared to stock (1 step being like G's to Z's) while still retaining the stock VQ note. Havn't noticed rasp at any rpm nor can i say for performance gains on the buttdyno.

But you'll be surprised at how much weight youre taking off the car from metallic HFC's compared to stock cats
