Crawford Z Car Service Intake Plenum Review
I recently installed a Crawford Z Car Service Intake Plenum and the gains out weigh the price by a large margin.
The install is very easy and straight forward. Much easier than installing an Injen intake. I used the instructions straight off the Crawford website. http://www.crawfordzcar.com
When first turning on the engine, I notice that the Injen intake is now a bit louder at idle. It sounds like it is sucking in more air. When I push on the throttle the intake now makes a "sucking" noise much louder than before. From that I can already tell that the car is breathing much better. You can tell it will flow better just by comparing the plenums side-by-side. The factory piece is so restrictive.
On with the test, I drive the Z and shift at 4000. You can feel a bit more gain starting around 3200. Then when I get to the backroad, I hit it. From 4000-Redline, the Z pulls much harder, you have to shift to 2nd much quicker than before since the needle raises so quick now. It will make you say "DAMMMNN!!"
Overall I am extremely happy with this product. I would recommend it to everyone that is looking for more power. Even if you aren't good under the hood, I recommend this since it is so easy to put on.
Oh yah, the strut bar is very nice too. It is also very easy to install. The bar bends when you tug on it, but I don't think it is a big issue.
NOW GO GET YOUR CRAWFORD PLENUM!!!

Ordered mine! Should be here withen 2 weeks he said.
Damn you people who ordered and arn't sending your cores back fast! It's backing him up and making our orders slowler!
If you ordered one and need to return your stock core, DO IT NOW! Or I'll kick you @$$ because I'm very impatient!!

This is my plan...
I guess I better call Doug and get on the list for a plenum. I'm hoping to have it in time for a track event in October.

is there any extra hardware u need in order to complete the install? my one friend mentioned about replacin the head gasket anytime u remove your intake manifold; would that b a good idea, or is it not an issue? thanks, guys.
Keeping your cores for warranty????
Just in case you really really needed your stock plenum for warranty work, I dont think you would have a problem trading with one of your fellow Z brothers (with stock plenum) for a short while. Im sure someone would gladly lend you their stock intake for the crawford.
i know i would.

does anyone know if the flat JIC Carbon Fibre strut tower brace will work with this plenum? I know the round ones wont but was wondering if my flat one will? Any help would be great, would love to do this plenum.

So what do you guys think Nissan will say if you bring the car in for "anything" ? Will they be pissed or actually like it?
This is a big mod I was looking at.

Our dealership sponsors like Performance Nissan and Smithtown Nissan are "mod" friendly dealerships.
The stock Nissan cover is ugly and cheap looking. With the Crawford Z plenum, the VQ35 still looks ugly but manly ugly. On top of that, for the price you pay to get the refurbished plenum you get true horsepower gains and none of that wishy washy "our dyno test showed a 50 hp increase over stock" that you get with other manufacturers. Go for it, webcar, you'll definitely be pleased.
