Smile Pairing Nismo Exhaust w/appropriate test pipes

Emissions and loudness not an issue.

I'm going FI in the future (turbo). I have a nismo exhaust now, so what size of test pipes should I have to pair 'em up? I don't want restriction in my exhaust flow.

I'm looking at Helix test pipes. So what do you guys think?

Thank You.

By TD I assume you mean true-dual. Ok Escobar, school me. BTW, the nismo came with the car so I didn't have a choice in it, its a fine exhaust for now.

*edit: so I'm reading that single exhaust is best for a turbo. So nismo no good? I'd like to think there are people running a turbo successfully with nismo exhaust.

If I was going turbo I'd definatly get rid of the nismo and go TD or 3 inch.

$20 bucks says the other guy won't go FI.

He seems like he has no clue about turbochargers and their relationships with exhaust systems.. No offense.

You may be right but at least he is attempting to learn But yes, the nismo is fine for now...I guess. But if you go FI it would be a huge restriction, 3'' TD ftw!!

OP, if you decide to NOT go FI, i recommend tossing the nismo y-pipe, and picking up the Motordyne XYZ pipe WITH RESONATOR... and getting 2.5" test pipes (Fast Intentions resonated pipes are probably a good choice)

without the XYZ with resonator your nismo will RASP like a mothaf**cker when you put TPs on it...

and again, i have no idea if this is a good application for FI, but this is the route to go if you stay NA... have fun!

Hater. HAHA. It's all good everybody starts somewhere right? People who have killer set ups now probably started where I did. But I'm doing my research, and $20 says I'll get it.

Now, for those being constructive. I'm going single turbo, most likely powerlab. Thank you for the replies!

The NISMO is a 3" single, that flows well enough for a supercharger or small TT kit (Greddy 18g or JWT kit). Just an FYI, a single 3" has only about a 10% smaller cross sectional area of the TD 2.25". Yes, theoretically you want the least amount of restriction for a turbo application....but a TD 3" IMO is only required if you are running large twins (Greddy 20G or upgraded JWT). A single 3" or TD 2.25" would be just fine for your daily driver with ~450hp on tap.

Also, listen to Ginobetterfly regarding the rasp. I have the XYZ with my Nismo and it sounds great.
