Default Nismo R-Tune headers and many other question.

Ok I just ordered my nismo CAI, exhaust, and R-tune headers at mynismo.com. My question is, does anyone here have the R-tune headers installed on their Z?? And if so, do you have trouble passing the state inspection with it?? I did my research on it before putting in my orders, I went to the dealership and talked to their mechanic and he said I shouldnt have trouble passing the state inspection with the R-Tune headers. Then I went to my local tuner shop and asked the same question, but this time the mechanic said I wouldnt pass the state inspection because its an R-tune and its meant for the track only. I dont know which one to believe. Ok and heres the rest of my questions. With the Nismo CAI, exhaust and headers, am I going to need an ECU reflash or reset?? My best friend has the same set up on his 03 Z and when he got the parts installed his check engine lights came on and he had to get an ECU reset to solve the problem. I was told that the VQ engine is very sensitive when it comes to engine modifications. Would it be smarter just to go ahead and order a UTEC or an ECU reset/reflash??

How about taking a deep breath. Let it out slow. Relaxed?

Install the stuff that you have. THe car will run fine. We will solve any trivial details later If necessary.

Note: Just curious why you are spending $2,500 on intake and exhaust and maintaining the OEM catalytic converters?

I'm running intake, plenum spacer, lower collector, test pipes with cel fixers and exhaust and haven't had an engine light problem at all. A reflash/reprogram isn't necessary but would be desireable down the road to get full advantage of all of the parts you install. I think it will be just fine.

My guess would be the same reason I wouldn't put on "hi-flow" cats... because they are reported as "track use only". I would be nervous about not passing emissions. But I'm just guessing here.

Your best move would be to sell/return the headers (minimal gains for the money and a royal PITA to install) and get some test pipes instead or if you need to pass an inspection try high flow cats instead.

SC = NO smog testing (FTW)

Just stop. Nismo headers for the money are not the best choice. CAI also not the best by a long shot. If your in nj pm me.

You won't get the most out of the headers if you don't have TP or HFCs.
Get those before you install headers.
