Default Mishimoto intake question

I had an K&N Typhoon intake. It got destroyed. I had a AEM CAI by accidental delivery, and decided to use it. It's absolutely useless, and I stall every time it rains.

I have a Asuka Design bonnet which has a big gaping vent directly over where a short ram usually sits. So although I wanted a Short Ram, most of them have open tops, EXCEPT for the K&N Typhoon and the Mishimoto.

Firstly, I don't even know if the Typhoon wil work, since I don't know if the bonnet vent which goes slightly downward into the engine bay will allow the space for the cf cover.

I'm interested in spending a little extra on the Mishimoto since it's gorgeous, but I keep looking at pictures, and I can't see where it connects with the MAP sensor. Not only that, but how does the box connect to the pipe?

My issue is, I've long lost my stock intake, so if I need a part from that, I wouldn't have it.

Can anyone fill me in on the Mishimoto? Does it require any parts from the OEM intake?

How about it's performance. I know, I know, the Popcharger is the best. I'm not interestedin the 1-3 hp difference between the short rams, I just don't want to LOSE power, which I can feel from having this stupid AEM CAI.

Hi from Spain.

First of all, I have had that two intakes. The k&n Typhoon and the Mishimoto. IMO the Mishimoto is a lot,lot better intake. Here in this forum, we have a member (from spain too) that gone to the dyno with the stock 2004 intake, and after in the same day, same dyno, he lost 13hp with the k&n typhoon. His name is ToñinZ.

And yes, the mishimoto requires parts from an OEM intake. Precisely uses the stock mass housing where is located the maf. Anyway, buying a stock 2003-2004 used intake is not a problem.

In terms of performance I think the Mishimoto loss some power in the low range, and don´t loss anything at high rpm.

Sorry for my english.

Brilliant, thanks a lot. I will probably just order the OEM part and the mishimoto intake.

is that true though that the typhoon looses power? I know a lot of Zs that have them.
