The VQ axle back options for the Motordyne TDX exhaust will be tested in the next couple weeks. Posts begin here:

I have the VQ with resonated test pipes. The lighter video is with the resonator module the darker vid is with the straight pipe.

The track vid is with the straight pipe module.

I have the 1st VQ exhaust meaning I can't switch out like you guys can I have flanges on mine.

I've had this exhaust for the last 2yrs with no problems FI and now N/A. I like it I'm interested in what the new one sounds like because of the drone.

Rcdash do you have any vids with the vq you have now (older)?

I have the newest "VQ" mufflers for the TDX design. I am stuck waiting on a part to move my evap canister back and apologize to all for the delay in getting these units tested. The part is en route from Performance Nissan in AZ and should arrive Sat. I am as anxious as anyone to see which one sounds the best.

I just took delivery of the VQ catback that I'll swap out for my Single Shockwave))). I hope to be able to do it tonight unless I wimp out. It is really cold here right now and those rubber hangers are going to be rock hard. I'll let folks know what it is like when I get it done and hopefully come up with some video clips.

OK, I got the exhaust on tonight. It was 25 degrees outside so installation wasn't a lot of fun. The exhaust sounds very, very good. It is really quiet. Since I was looking for a quiet exhaust that I could swap out with the Single Shockwave))) I think this is going to be perfect. For anyone looking for a quiet exhaust, this is really good. I haven't had the stock exhaust on for a while so it is hard to give a good comparison to it. I'll try and come up with some sound clips.

Taking the VQ off and putting on the single will be easy. Getting so I can put the VQ back on quickly and efficiently will probably take me a couple times and doing when it is not below freezing will help. Imagine how hard those rubber hangers were. I also have to adjust the tips a bit more to get them looking just right.

Anyone have a cutout of what the original MD VQ exhaust looks like?

Does it have a perforated core or louvered core? Chambers?

I don't have a cut away drawing of the VQ but it is a perforated core design with no chambers.

Its just a BIG glass packed muffler. And its quiet.

Yeah, I'll see about a clip. I've not done that before so we'll see. After driving with it a couple days, I really like the exhaust. I've driven in town on on the freeway. The exhaust is quiet and the quality of the sound is great.

The only downside is that now I hear the Z tire noise at speed again. Good news is that I can hear my music again without going deaf.

I got the tips adjusted properly and they look good. The are the 4" titanium.

Thanks for the brief review. Good to hear you got it installed and are happy with it. I would be interested in a sound clip and/or some pictures.

Default VQ exhaust clip

This is my first Youtube upload, so I apologize if this doesn't come through well.

This just shows startup and the sound at different rpm levels in neutral. Nothing under load.

Stock 2006 Revup other than a 5/16th spacer and MREV 2 lower plenum.

Wow. That IS quiet. Looks good. Thanks a lot for putting the sound clip up!!

Not sure it that is the exhaust for me yet, but certainly a good option. I have time to wait and hear some of the new options that Motordyne is rolling out.

Thanks again.

Any other Z owners with this exhaust? Install pics? I'd like to hear it with some HFC's or TP's!

I emailed Tony. This is what he said:

"It has been discontinued. People don’t seem to want a quiet exhaust."

=(
