My DIY Intake induction box w/ pics....
Thanks bud,
Ya, either gonna send off to Tonester to c/f wrap or try wetsanding to polish it up a bit.
Prob gonna finish fabbing the rest of the box to fully enclose the filter area first, then either send parts off or polish myself.
I didn't see anybody post on your question about sanding...
What you're going to want to do is determine the amount of pitting, if the metal is rough, go ahead and hit it with 280 grit sand paper... Seriously, go nuts, once its an even sand (pitting is gone), step it up to 400 grit, go at it again till it starts to shine... once you think its done... juice it with 800-1000 grit.... make it a mirror!
At this point (its what I would do) go get never dull, and shine the crap out of it with that.
Take it from me, I'm a Navy guy... I've shined just about everything under the sun.
All in all, depending on the condition of the metal, it can take anywhere from 1-12 hours... now, GET TO IT!

Yup, all parts from Lowes.
Go ahead and buy no smaller than a 60"x60" sheet of aluminum, 24 or 26 gauge.
Also a pair of "Duckbill snips" that can cut straight and at curves both ways. When you go to Lowes, youll see a pair with BIG orange full circle rubber grips...those are the ones i bought.
You use already in-place OEM bolts, 2 on the radiator cover over intake duct and one in the back corner of the stock intake box.
Ill do my best to get this up asap....moving this weekend and taking my Z into the body shop this afternoon.

SWEET....the Z is getting close to going into storage soon, so take your time (just not like the last guy who took like 5 years!!! and never produced anything!)
I will get the parts. Anyone got any ideas on how to lower heat soak risk even more? (Fins, wraps, etc?)
