Default stock exhaust bolts not budging

My agency power exhaust came in today. The car has been on jack stands for the past hour while my friend and I have been beating the stock exhaust bolts to death.
I've sprayed them with pb blaster but they still won't budge. does anyone have any suggestions

Breaker bar. Or get a pipe on the end of your ratchet and have at it.

Have you tried using your legs? I had to get the ratchet on and kick at it to get some of the bolts loose

Use a box end wrench and pound the open end with a mallet.

I tried using my legs, tried holding on to my friends legs and pulling on him as he tried to pull on the bolts but nothing worked.
never heard of a breaker bar.might have to go get one.

i sprayed the hell out of it with pb blaster again. I have to go to work soon so hopefully when i get home in about 10 hours it will have settled and loosened up the bolts.

we were thinking of maybe getting an air gun or a torque wrench.

At times like these... i just use wd-40 ... let it sit for a second. Then off it goes.

WD-40, or Liquid Wrench, let it sit, and use a breaker bar.

you definitely dont want to use a torque wrench because you're just gonna mess it up.

Just keep soaking it in PB blaster, and I mean soaking it not just spraying a little on it. After you spray the whole bolt and nut, bang on the nut with a wrench or hammer to help the PB Blaster get into the bolt. Then just keep going at it, eventually it will come off. When you finally get them off and put the AP make sure you use anti-seize on each bolt. You can get a small little packet from Advance Auto for a buck.

BTW I got my AP yesterday from THMotorsports and I installed it today in 7 degree whether lol. It sounds sick at low RPM's but past 4k it gets really raspy (got ichiba TP on)

heat the bolt up until its red hot. Wait for it to cool down then use breaker bar. never use a torque wrench to loosen a fastener. torque multiplier maybe, but not wrench.

Breaker bar will solve your problems if it's long enough And don't use a torque wrench, you'll mess it up.

haha so true. I gotta take my stock ypipe/midpipe to a shop to get the bolt and nut cut off.

when you get your stock exhaust off I suggest you take it to a shop and get all the bolts cut off so that if you ever need to put it back on you can use new nuts and bolts.

I hope it worked well for you. The key is a breaker bar. Since you haven't hear of what that is, it is a very long bar with a 1/2" socket head on it. The idea is that it gives you more leverage than your normal wrench and the 1/2" socket is strong enough to take the force. A breaker bar is a relatively inexpensive and indispensable tool if you are going to do much with your car. You can also buy a set of 1/2" drive impact sockets for pretty cheap as well.

When I changed out the suspension on my '94 RX-7 it took me forever to finally break some of the bolts free. They had been on there since the car was assembled 13 years earlier. It took a breaker bar, PB blaster, heat, some added leverage, and all my weight to break them loose.

Keep working at it and eventually it will come.

well...we tried everything. All of the bolts are officially stripped. It was about 4 hours total of us trying everything possible but they wont move. I'm so pissed off and disappointed right now.

Is there any way to just break it off or to break/rip the bolts out. I don't care what happens to the bolts or the stock exhaust. I just want the damn thing out.

hmm.. pay a auto shop one hour of labor to make the swap or fight bolts for hours .. : P

sometimes ya gotta let someone else do an easy job for you .. for those parts that aren't so easy.

You could always use a die grinder with a cut off wheel to cut the bolts off (I did this on an Eclipse I was working on) through the nut as close to the flange as you can get. That way you will free the pipe.

Or you can use a recip. saw and cut the pipe in half. But doing this method will keep you from selling the stock exhaust.

Time to take it to a shop.

As Entaille wrote, sometimes it is better to take it to a shop. When I swapped my own cat-back, I didn't do it myself simply because taking the Y-pipe off the cats is reportedly a pain to do. I could have done it, but I don't need the aggravation.

A shop can take the bolts out without ruining your stock exhaust and also install the new exhaust quickly for you. It shouldn't be that expensive.

Jason Z: Yes,we know it was gay. It took us about 10 minutes to stop laughing at the position we were in and actually try to make it work.
About the impact gun and torque wrench comments.
I'm new to this. I was just trying to think of ways to get the bolts out. That's why I asked for advice.

My friends brother, who has much more experience working on cars, is coming over today to help. Hopefully I'll have some videos up by tonight.
