Default Okay to cover exhaust tips after driving?

Guys, my rear bumper always gets covered with exhaust soot after being driven and then parked in the garage. It's kind of annoying, especially when you clean the car. How hot do the tips get on our cars? And is it okay for me to cover the tips with a microfiber cloth (or something else) so that the exhaust soot doesn't travel up and get stuck to the bumper?

I have a Borla True Dual, btw, which has double-wall tips.

Hot enough to probably burn the cloth, depending on your driving style/distance driven

The soot has to be there when you get home already, it can't be forming while the car sits, as there is no more exhaust flow...

I don't know if you guys ever noticed, but after you shut your car off, there is still some exhaust gasses that comes from the car for a few minutes.

just plug up the exhaust before you go for a drive. I guarantee that will solve your problem

The only way I can imagine that happening is if oil is vaporizing in your exhaust while its still hot.

You may want to check into why oil is in your exhaust.

My oil levels are just fine. I also have a 5AT DE, I doubt my car is consuming oil.

Your tune is way to rich by the sound of things.

as mentioned, the soot that forms is happening while you're driving, not while it's parked

want to eliminate it? get a better tune, and/or get rid of the test pipes (if so equipped) and reinstall cats

I have HFCs. And I guess I will look into a re-tune.

Instead of putting microfiber on the exhaust opening. I would put the microfiber on the bumper just above the exhaust (where the "soot" collects) Find a way to make it stay... clear tape maybe? lol.

Either way this never happens to me...

If you've got cats and you're getting that much exhaust staining a blue car, it's running excessively rich. That may be a margin of safety considering it's etuned and not directly tuned. Even with test pipes on my silverstone, I never ran into such discolorations
