Default Trying to understand MREV2

I'm trying to understand this MREV2. I have an 06 MT with the spacer installed already. Is this mod specific to the 06 engine? And why do they call the 06 a rev up engine? thank you

the 06 engine for MT's only is called a rev up because .. your redline is 500 higher. this allowed them to tune the engine for more hp as well.

I don't recall exactly but I am pretty sure you do not benefit from a spacer without having that MREV2 on an 06 mt.

Entaille's right, the benefits on a rev-up can't be found (worth the $) unless you change both. There are a ton of threads in the forum that show detailed dynos and comparo's. Motordyne's rep has a ton of info on this.

So the spacer is useless without the mrev2. After I had it installed it seemed to make a little difference. Or was that just in my head?

most things that are insignificant as 10hp peak power are kind of in your head. maybe my butt dyno isn't accurate enough but I couldn't really feel the effects of each mod until I was done and it was tuned. - even then, it wasn't all that different. : P

so the best thing to do is get the mrev2 and have it, the spacer and exhaust tuned for best performance.

yes...get the MREV2 and finish the rest of your bolt ons before you decide to get it tuned.

the best thing to do would be to install any and all bolt on mods you plan on doing first, then get a reflash and tune.

you need to know what you want for intake, headers, cats/test pipes/ or high flow cats, exhaust, plenum etc... any combination of aftermarket and stock, just plan it out first so you don't have to pay for retuning when you tweak your system again.

So would test pipes make sense?

I don't know. that's for you to decide. you will lose a little bit of low end torque and you will pick up some mid range / peak power and torque. they are illegal, and most of them create rasp. reason enough for me to avoid messing with them.

Look into High Flow Cats which may be a better option for you than test pipes. HFC are not as free flowing as test pipes and therefore give less power but may be the only way to pass inspection.

a lot of folks swap on their stock cats for emissions too, but that's not going to save you from daily risks/cops : P

trying to stay away from cops and rasp. I will look into the hfc. Sometimes its just easier buying the car all put together. Not as much fun though.
