Default Creating custom dual exhaust question. Your thoughts please

Well i have had my z for a year now and its time to start considering exhaust. I would like to mimic the overall layout of the Motordyne Shockwave Dual exhaust because i LOVE the way they sound. Before anyone flames me, a good buddy of mines dad owns a small family owned exhaust business for 40+ years and he has always done my exhausts on my previous cars personally. So in conclusion i want to know from you guys what you think about the idea of trying to mimic a exhaust like that or if i should just spend double to buy the a name brand. Give your honest opinions but don't be a dick. Thanks

Im positive Motordyne has spent COUNTLESS hours researching and developing the shockwave dual to create such an exhaust. Do you really think your friends dad who owns a small exhaust business can come even close to replicating this exhaust? Just something to think about

I didn't say i wanted it replicated but i wanted the same layout such as where they put the resonator and the muffler etc. But the more i think about it i would rather just buy the Motordyne but I'm gonna wait and see what some others have to say also. Thanks for the replies

just because you can mimic the layout of the motordyne, does not mean you will achieve the same note. There is more that goes on in an exhaust than just outer appearance and layout.

Hi PO, I won't encourage you to mimic our product because I can assure you that you won't be able to get any of the "Motordyne" traits and/or features you wanted from our product. Simple fact that each and everyone of the Motordyne productions were made through countless hours of testing and the precision standard of rocket engineering. This is not something you can simply "copy" and get the same results.

With that said, you are better off just make any exhaust system and leave the Motordyne name out of it lol (no offense). Because it will surely not be anything like our product.

The best example would be the HKS and its replica. I'm sure everyone on this forum knows how terrible the replica is and we all agreed that our Z deserves better than a Civic treatment or attitude.

If you would like to talk more about the price, we are going to have a promotion in our next Spocom event. You can save up to 10% right there. I will be starting a thread about this later this week and please feel free to stay tuned with us!

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any other questions
