Default Cracked Nismo S-tune Exhaust Midpipe Flange

So last week I had my car up on a lift and found that my Nismo S-tune Exhaust has a crack around the Midpipe flange. You know the flange that meets the Y-pipe. I have never heard of a Nismo Exhaust cracking around the Midpipe flange. Everyone I have seen has been cracked at the Y-pipe flange.
Never the less I got it off and removed the supports that are welded to the flange. I will be heading to the welder in the morning.

Pic's.

Good spotting! What made you check though?

I've noticed that one of the hangers that are welded to the exhaust has broken its weld from the exhaust. On idle sometimes, you can here it rattle.

There must be quite a bit on movement in our exhausts.

When I start the car I let it run a bit before leaving. So it made small wet spot on the garage floor due to the humidity. At first I thought it was a gasket, but once up the rack, it was clear it was not a gasket.

I've heard of it happening before. I think it has to do with the flex in the y-pipe on the Nismo, but I could be wrong.

what i meant was that the lack in flex in the nismo y-pipe may have caused your flange to crack

Oh. Well my y-pipe has flex in it.
I am also going to be replacing my Berk HFC with the New Berk HFC with the revised double gusset support brackets. I currently have the real old style with the single gusset support bracket. These where know for cracking. The folks at Berk took care of me and cut me a Great deal on new ones with the revised support brackets.

i have the revised one's and my driver side cracked right at the support bracket. If the support bracket was not there i'm sure they would still be good. that's probably why this time i'm gonna go with fast intentions since they don't use support brackets and i haven't read any complaints with them.

I would imagine this huge scrape is the reason why it cracked?
What did you bottom out on?

That's not a huge scrap from bottom out. That's where I grinded off the one of the two support gussets that where welded to the flange so the welder could weld around the whole flange.
