Default Strup test pipes installed, review

This was my first time installing these and I must say, it was far easier than I expected. I had a buddy of mine help me out but we removed the stock cats and installed the test pipes in about 2-2.5 hours. I have been reading a lot of tp reviews and opinions and the rasp was my main concern. Running stock exhaust by the way. I could care less about the smell but the sound was the most crucial to me. Honestly, the only time it would somewhat rasp is from a cold start, under load, roughly around the 3-4k rpm range. After it warms up, it goes a away a bit but honestly, I think this whole rasp thing is overrated. From the inside, it kinda does sound like it rasp under load. It produces a subtle hiss/rasp sound but when I heard it from the outside, couldn't tell at all. Now this may vary for different exhaust setups but w/ test pipes (non-res) and stock catback, sounds pretty decent. Oh and the butt dyno seems to conclude it pulls harder in the top end. All in all, I'm pretty satisfied.

dude rasp isn't overrated, they suck when test pipes are mated with the right exhaust. I had longtube headers with my stock exhaust and i personally did not notice any rasp. But with my Bassani i couldnt stand it (reason i sold that and the HKS knockoff). Im glad you like your setup tho, it did sound great when i had it.

I got Berk tp's...and Borla td...and rasp. I hate it and kinda wanna take the pipes off. I konda wondered if heat wrapping them would help with the rasp?? Btw, yours has alot of rasp as well, but still sounds fairly cool.

so far, no, and i hope it stays that way. I'm not really worried since its an 03 and have non-foulers added.

heat wrap what? the TPs or the Y-pipe? heat wrapping tps doesn't make sense to me. if your thinking about wrapping the flex part of the y-pipe, it'll prob help a little but i wouldn't advise it. It'll probably be more prone to rusting.
