Default CAIs

Hey guys, got a quick question, sorry if its a bit on the noob side.

Ive got a 2007 350z Nismo with Nismo dual CAI and a buddy with a 2009 370z with stock intakes. Im purchasing Stillen G3 intakes for my nismo since you dont have to cut out the core support on the nismo to make them fit. (All other models you had to from my understanding) So 2 part question, have they developed stillen g3 for the 370z where you dont have to cut out the core support on the front? If not, he wants to know if the VQ35HR nismo CAI will fit on his 370 without complications.

Thanks,
Donovan

according to this and this, you have to cut a bit out of the core support.

the 350z nismo CAI (which BTW is not a true CAI) will probably not fit on the 370z, as i highly doubt the mounting brackets/mounting points are identical

Unfortunately I cant access Nismo's site from here either. I heard they were in production, but never did hear if they've been released yet. Also, found that with Injen you dont have to cut out the core support, but with the Stillen G3 you still have to on the 370z.

The injen 370Z CAI does not require cutting but it does require modding your windshield washer resivour tank to retrofit their smaller one. The Stillen G3 requires opening up the core support some to fit the chrome tubes in there. AES has one out too but not sure if that needs modding too.

Thanks, he wants to stay away from having to cut out the core support or having to move anything, thats why he was considering the nismo dual intake, but they havent made one yet for the 370 (that ive found). So still unconfirmed on the 350 nismo dual intakes fitting the throttle bodies of the 370?

For the stillen g3? interesting... since stillen themselves say that modification of core support must be performed. they even posted a video themselves showing how to use a dremel tool to do the installation. From my understanding the 2007-08 nismo edition was the only trim that allowed installation without modification.

the amount you have to shave is minor. Tell your friend to stop being a baby and get to town.

The install on the Stillen Gen3 is really not something to be intimidated by - the cutting is minor. I have very little under the hood experience if you will (I do my own oil thats about it?), and I did the gen3 install on my 08 in about 3 leisurely hours. I used a dremel and I only had to remove maybe 3 square inches of material from the plastic bit. Really I could have not cut anything, but the two filters wouldn't have sat exactly the same.

i have stillen G3s on my '07 base model. all HR350Zs require NO modification to the core support for the stillen G3 intakes. (this means all '07s, '08s, and the few '09s that were sold). As i mentioned above, the stillen intakes for the 370Z DO require some very slight (not difficult at all) dremelling.

/thread.
