Default exotic speed R1-T + what y-pipe?

Sorry if this seem a bit general. I'm planning on getting the R1-T soon but need to figure out what y-pipe to get. I been doing a lot of research but I have been leaning more towards the HR y-pipe. I want to stay under $1k if possible. I would go w/ the motordyne y but just too much money for a y-pipe. Megan and nismo are out cause of the crappy quality (megan) and design (stress/cracks TPs).

What are some other decent y-pipes for around $150 to under $300?
I was looking at the stillen y but kinda worried about not having any flex joints...

*edit: i have TPs by the way.

did you really just say buy an ebay y-pipe? lol. the ones that go for like $50 to $100 or so? Thats awesome how yours had no issues for that long but the general consensus just seem to hate ebay brand y-pipes or any parts for that matter so I'm kinda hesistant about them.

i meant as in Megan. But even if i didnt plenty of zs around here rock EBay. My buddy has a Z on a budget and i swear i think ebay sponsors him. Ebay Intake/LT Headers/y pipe/ ehxuast. Guess what? NO serious probs. At the most prob a sh1tty install bc we put them on DRUNK. If u dont have exp with the part or whatever is up for discussion, best thing to do is not comment. I never commented on rev up oil probs bc i own a 05. Even though all the stuff i read i had no EXP with it

a y pipe is a y pipe, unless its a motordyne y pipe haha. No seriously tho, if your not going to get a motordyne y pipe, then get any other reputable brand name y pipe, like jic or tanabe or aam. The stock y imo wouldnt be good if you have tp. Why put on a restrictive y pipe when you can get aftermarket y pipe? Besides, its so much heavier.

the ones you listed are all pretty expensive. how would the HR y not be good if i have TPs? I have seen the HR ypipes w/o the heat shield and they look pretty similar in design w/ like the nismo, megan, etc y-pipes.
HR y is much more free flowing compred to the DE's y so i don't see how that could hurt me. how much more than aftermarket like nismo or megan y, i don't know but it can't be much more...

At this point, I'm not too concerned about power gains b/c you can only go so far w/ an NA VQ.

I sometimes regret getting my Fujitsubo Y b/c of price... and and not to mention I got it used. I've actually heard of good things of the Megan piece.

The diameter of the HR y-pipe is smaller than the most test pipes. Most test pipes have a 2.5" diameter vs the smaller 2.1"(?) diameter of the HR y-pipe. Like attaching a straw to a garden hose, well not really, but you get the idea.

Try to keep all the diameters free flowing as possible.

Test pipes- 2.5" OD (guessing you have 2.5" pipes like most do)
Cheap y-pipe-Dual 2.5" inlets then merges into 1 3" pipe.

Best bet is to use a 3" exhaust to match the y-pipe and keep the flow.

good point. Never knew the HR diameter was that small. I knew the HR inlet diameter was a little larger than the DE but to how much more i wasn't sure. I have the strup TPs. Says there 2-1/2in mandrel bent tubing X .065 wall thickness so thats what 2.5-0.65= 2.435in or about 61.8 mm?

I guess I will go after the aftermarket now.

How do you explain some of the HFC and TPs cracking w/ those guys that ran megan and nismo y-pipes? IIRC, both those y-pipe have similar designs.
Maybe those were just rare coincidences but I would really hate to have my TPs crack. I bought my TPs used w/ about 8-9000 miles on them.

This guy said it perfectly for me, thanks :]

Like I said before, just stick to aftermarket, much lighter. And if you have test pipes, and don't want rasp, maybe you should just save up for motordyne xyz pipe, or if you dont mind the rasp too much, get an aam or something. I heard good things about megan also, but I heard the nismo paired with tp or hfc are prone to crack. Your choice tho.

Honestly, I think you will still get rasp with test pipes and cheap y-pipe. To further prevent, the XYZ pipe with resonator or cat attachment is your best bet to limit rasp. Can't guarantee it won't rasp with the XYZ+resonator, but it's the least likely to rasp. Plus, the XYZ is dyno proven to give the most gains by putting the merge at the prim location.

I know, it's a pricey piece.

Here's a video just for fun!

I love my xyz+resonator and was well worth the money...(used) Just be patient and stalk the classifieds like a hawk. I picked up my practically new xyz pipe with resonator for just under $350 about a year ago. I have this paired with the exoticspeed R1-T and FI resonated test pipes and there is absolutely no rasp. I would actually say it is a tad bit too muffled, might give the straight pipe a shot for the xyz pipe.
