Default Question about porting matching?

Has anyone on here port matched their lower collectors and manifold? I'm specifically looking to see if someone has dynoed their car before and after doing this to their engine. If so, what kind of gains can one expect to yield from doing so? I'll be getting an UpRev tune in the next month or so and the speed shop that I go to suggested adding Tomei headers. They seem to be a costly mod, ($1,000 for headers and about $800 for labor) and supposedly only add six to ten H.P. max.
If port matching and polishing yields comparable gains, I'd rather put my money on that.

If you're getting headers, I highly suggest crawford headers (at that price range). Crawfords are about 1100 and are shorty-long tubes..

I dont know many people with Z's who have matched the ports. I used a sander and honer to bring them close, but never measured the difference with a flowbench.

all you need is a 30$ carbide burr and you can do it yourself. no reason not to gasket match if you have everything apart.

but no, thats not going to give you close to the gains of a properly designed header with complimentary exhaust and tune.

took like 6 mins to do this with my carbide burr
before/after

Gasket matching is a great Idea. I am currently porting my heads and intake manifold, and I want you to know that you will be wasting your time if you are going to pull everything apart to only gasket match the ports. They are not that for off to worry about them. This is my 2-cents.

What kind of h.p. gains do you expect from that process? I have an 03' 350z lower collector on my car. I was told it helps with low-end torque quite a bit. I'm just trying to see how I can extract a bit more h.p. out of the engine before I get my custom tune. Thanks.

There is no way I am going to make claims of HP on this forum. But, any thing you can do to help flow with out slowing velocity will help.
