Default Borla Headers & Exhaust Dyno- Not Bad!

Finally got a round tuit. Had to pick up a friend who was dropping his car off for some mods at Altered Atmosphere Motorsports, Inc. in Gaithersburg. Figured since I was there, it was good a time as any to get that dyno I've been waitin for. Thanks to Mike at AA for putting the pedal to the metal and keepng us company while it was gettin strapped down.

This is an SS Touring, 6 MT, Borla Headers, Borla TD exhaust and InSaneame grounding kit, 12,500 miles.

Actual Power & AF

SAE Power & Torque

SAE Power & AF

I'm happy... now what's next hipo cats, cam, plenum...?

Sounds like a software glitch (power & AFR mixed up maybe?). The curve doesn't go anywhere near 17.5. Same with the actual AFR chart.

Yeah I questioned that too. The A/F runs between 12.6 to 13.8 but the way the software works, it remembers the highest value it saw from before he gets to 4th gear (I think he was in 4th, I need to get that for the record), but the 17.5 came sometime getting to 4th at 2 grand... possibly during a shift. Just look at the graph during the actual run for the real numbers.

P.S. Sorry I don't have a baseline from before the Borla install.

Which numbers? I'm no wrench or mechanical engineer, just thought I'd add my chart to the mix. Everybodies got different setups, so it helps to see what all the different combinations do. Helps others decide where they want to put thier money. The AF ratio is how many parts air to fuel... mine seem to average about 13.5 parts air to one part fuel, which I believe is on the lean side (as most of us are). Then at about 5.5k rpm it starts to get a little richer. I was impressed by the low end torque which is all the way up to 200 at 3 grand , now a cam would probably back that up nicely with a little extra horse power down there.

I should have made them smaller... each chart has two graphs. The 1st is actual horse power vs RPM and air fuel ratio vs RPM, the 2nd is SAE horse power vs RPM and torque vs RPM. SAE horse power is a standardized HP based on a formula to normalize for temperture and altitude and something... SAE is a standards body that develops formulas so that if we dyno our car in the winter, we'll get the same number next summer. The 3rd graph is SAE horse power vs RPM and air to duel ratio VS RPM. RPM is always on the bottom and HP is on the left while torque or air to fuel is on the right. Maybe you just need to scroll to the right to see there is another component listed down the right.

No not really. Check these, I strongly suspect they are all "actual" horse power but they were having fun.. and don't give the details... Dyno Day in So. Cal.

someone's "actual"...

and another...

d$#n ,looking at that last link (again), their stock numbers are about the same as mine ... but I'm skeptical. Does sound like the plenum is nice and the cats could go... but you have to take dynos for what they are. I can tell the dif since the exhaust and I will go back to the same dyno following other mods.. you really just gotta do yor own baseline and go from there...
