Default test pipes-engine replacement warranty

hey guys so i have a 06 and i just got the short block replaced like a month ago due to oil consumption. now the car is burning again, but i have installed testpipes and intake. do you think the dealership will try to blame the issue on these mods even though the engine has already been classified as a oil burner??? let me know guys, cuz im going to be bringing it into the dealership as soon as i get a chance.

Always go back to stock before bringing warranty work to the dealer.

This should be a no brainer.

By law, they have to prove that the mods actually caused the problem... The dealership can be cool and just do the work, or they can deny it and tell you that the TP's caused the oil burning... Either way, I would play it on the safe side and just remove them... It might cost you a couple of hundred bucks, but at least you'll get a new engine and not run the risk of them telling you that they won't change it and your stuck with a burner...

As far as them voiding the warranty, from what the service writer told me at my dealership, is that if they have proof that the mod caused the problem, then only the part will be voided...(I'm not too sure how that works, but that's what I was told)...

I.E: Let's say you install coilovers and a suspension part that would normally be covered under warranty breaks, the warranty would be voided for that part...(Like I said, that was how the service writer at my dealership explained it to me)... GL

they will try to blame it on your aftermarket parts, but like sdZ33 said, they have to prove it. Lookup Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act.

As stated, go ahead and take your aftermarket stuff off before you go in. It'll make things much easier on you.

My dealership tried to blame the oil consumption on my aftermarket stuff too. So I called the BBB, when I started getting the run around, and I also kept everything off while they tested the 2nd engine.

if you have to ask the question, you already know the answer

OP is in Canada, there is no MM Act to refer to, I am sure they have their own laws, and the dealer has their own policies.

Test pipes are an easy install, definitely invest that $200 into tools. It will save you a ton of money in the long run.
