I'll get back to you in probably 10 years then, lol. The first 2 years I owned my Z, I put 33k on it, the past 2 years, I put 1k on it, since I bought a daily driver, lol. Thats 1 reason why I went with a cheaper y-pipe, since I only drive the car every so often, longevity wasn't an issue. Even if it breaks within 3,000 miles, that would probably be 3-4 years from now for me, but I guess thats not the case for everyone.
Thats why I tried to take pictures of the welds and the thickness of the pipe, hopefully it helps people.

Nismo Ypipe culprit.
Hello Z cruzn,
My stock passenger side Cat was cracked after one year with a used Nismo exhaust system.
It was setting off the check engine light.
Luckily the dealership replaced both cats under warranty. Whew!
The flex tubing began to unravel and I picked up a plastic grocery bag.
It melted unto the Ypipe and sent toxic fumes. The flex was frayed and the plastic bits were imbeded beyond removal.
I replaced the pipe with the stock HR Ypipe.
The exhaust lost it's sound and I started looking for another Ypipe.
I just purchased an aftermarket Ypipe from Top Speed Auto Accessories, Inc.
I am going to install it this week.
Please inform us if your test pipes or high flow cats crack.
I will try to post pictures this week.
Thank you for your time,
Lboy06.

Curious if you will notice loss of low end torque with your new y-pipe. Post some feedback if you can.

davidv - I knew I read it somewhere here several times...didn't remember that it was you! (At least I gave the "unknown" writer credit in my post - ha!). As for the 20k mile statement, I'll be happy if the tp's last that long, for sure!!! After 2k miles, still look like new........BTW, I spent $166 total (shipped) on the M2 tp's & y-pipe from m-motorsports, a forum vendor here (around $76 on the tp's & $90 on the y-pipe).

When I had a Megan (DE version Y-pipe) with TurboXS TP/Nismo mid-back exhaust, my TP didn't start to crack until about a year to a year and a half. But when I replaced the Megan for a Nismo Y-Pipe (after Tig-welded it to seal it), my TP's cracked after 4-5 months....

Good review, OP!
Just wanted to share... My Topspeed res. TP's have completed about 18k miles and still in top condition despite getting scrapped over humps many times. I've installed the Stillen engine damper about a year ago to keep the pipes from flexing too much. So i guess some Ebay stuff aren't bad at all. In fact, too underestimated IMO.

Almost 3 years since installing the cheap test pipes & y-pipe I opened this thread about.....driver side test pipe cracked yesterday. These $70 test pipes lasted as long if not longer than the previous sets of more expensive pipes I've used. This time I'm using a flex-pipe set of Top Speed Pro 1 test pipes. Just ordered them today for $101 shipped & should have then on by Fri. night. Will update......

Hi
May be old news for some or not that big a deal for some, but I thought I'd share a bit about a purchase & install I made. As posted on another section, I ordered a set of M2 test pipes & an M2 y-pipe from Marinelli Motorsports (vendor here). After going thru several average priced hi-flos & test pipes, I decided to go a little less expensive this time & see what happens. I don't know if I should post the prices here since we have to PM m-motorsports for the prices, but I will say the test pipes & y-pipe were under $200 total...shipping included - quite a bit less than what I have paid in the past!!
Anyway, I installed the pipes tonight - fit was perfect. I ran the test pipes & the y-pipe into my Nismo exhaust I've run for the past 6+ years. Although this M2 y-pipe is almost an exact match to the Nismo y-pipe, it does sit a bit higher at the collector end thereby not pulling down on the cat pipes like my original Nismo y-pipe did & cracked multiple sets of HFC's. Of course, the rasp is there while putting your foot into it for those curious. With the Crawford headers into straight pipes into a Nismo exhaust, the sound is pretty raw & wild at WOT- a sound that I've been used to for years so no biggie. As before, at idle it is pretty quiet.
Anyway, just wanted to inform a few people if you're looking for an inexpensive setup. Time will tell how these pieces perform as per cracking, etc. I'll update if need be. Until then, I'm quite happy with the fit during install, the welds, the collector on the y-pipe (a little sloppier inside than the Nismo y-pipe, about the same that I've seen on several others I've run and/or helped install in the past). Here's a few shots of the packaging, the welds, the inside of the collector and the installed look. Hope this helps any of you. Oh, the inside diameter of the test pipes are 2.25" & the collector end of the y-pipe is 3.00". They also came with all hardware & gaskets.
