Default Installing Headers 2morrow. *Help wanted*

Whats up guys, I plan on installing my set of headers that i bought 2morrow.

I have lots of experience with working on cars, But i have read that installing headers on these cars can be a real PITA!

I live in S.FL Ft.Laudy area.

Any help/Tips is greatly appreciated, I dont plan on driving the car 2morrow nor the next day. So i have plenty of time.

Thanks in Advance -Tim

HAHA ya man, like i said i do a lot of work on cars. I should not have a problem, however peoples horror stories kind of scare me lol.

I'm going the route where you dont remove the steering shaft... I'm gunna keep it as simple as possible.

there is no reason to leave the steering shaft connected. it is one bolt then it slides apart. you will spend far more time fighting the install than you will seperating the shaft. i'm not even sure its possible to do if you don't seperate it.

i personally think the average shorty header install is easy and should not take more than 3-4 hours.

Ya i really havent even mocked it up yet... I'm sure its pretty basic. Me and my buddy are do it up thursday. Should be easy, cant be much harder than tearing down the top half of my old lightning motor to install my trick flow heads with no hoist LMAO

I installed the Strupp headers on my Z back in the day. I remembered having to use alot of different extensions and joints to get to some of the studs. I did it with a couple drinking sessions, so that might have slowed me down. It was a pain to get to some of the studs, but it wasn't bad. I believe the Strupps were designed to be easier to install.

Its not an HR... And to be honest i dont know why people complain about something like this? If anything they should be happy that they get to actually get their hands dirty on their own vehicle and learn how to turn some wrenches and realize that in this day and age people actually still do things themselves they dont just cut a check out and hand it over sit back and watch. I may not be that old compared to some of you gents on here but... My dad always taught me to take care of things on my own, unless you try and fail in which case you have to bite your teeth and admit you cant do it LOL

Good learning experience too.

most people on the forums here are just babies about this kinda thing...

It's not hard, just takes some time (7 hours or so)

remove intake assembly
jack up the car, put front on jackstands
remove front wheels and bumper (doesn't take long and will save you a lot of time later)
drain the coolant
remove the drivers and passenger side coolant hard pipes
disconnect the steering linkage, make sure to mark the location
loosen the ac belt tensioner
move the ac compressor to the side
remove heat sheilds
disconnect headers from cats
disconnect headers from car

reverse those steps to install.

Ya to be honest the way i learned how to do work on cars was taking stuff off checking it out taking it apart putting it back together and hoping it would run after... Started with small stuff (Gopeds, weed eaters, lawnmowers, moved on to dirt bikes and quads, than to cars)

All trial and error and be ready for a lot of error LOL

BTW i started today about 12:00 disassembled the car, took off the passenger side hard coolant lines but i left the driver side no need to take it off... took off the steering shaft knuckle thats a must! Took off all the heat shield header bolts etc... Removed the headers and put the passenger side one on no problem easy to work with. Got to the driver side bolt it up and realize their is absolutely no way in hell the steering shaft is gunna clear to go back on. I try and muscle the header into position after i connected the steering shaft but no way... Very upsetting put the car all back together and have one Header and one stock exhaust manifold LMAO

I messaged the vendor on here and explained the story, waiting to here back.
