Default PNP Stock 350Z IM for my Altima SER

Just wondering if anyone can steer me in the right direction. I will be using a non revup stock IM from the 350Z on my 2006 Altima SER. The IM on the Altima 3.5/Maxima is not very efficient at all. I would like to have the upper and lower IM PNP'd for extra flow. Please before anyone thinks about assuming, YES I know a stock 350Z IM wont fit my fwd version of the VQ35DE, which is why it has been modified...HEAVILY in order to fit. I am just looking for help with getting the most out of my newest toy. I will also be adding spacers as well. Please, any help with where to get a good pnp done would be awesome.

Where in FL are you?

How modifided is the manifold? I've done some manifold/head porting with good results, it's just a matter of how well you can reach whatever passages you are trying to smooth. The VQ manifolds are long and very oddly shaped on the FWD apps.

I am near Daytona. I agree with you on the IM's for the FWD versions, but I am talking about the IM on 350Z IM. Should be no issue reaching the runners. This IM was modified to "work" with a FWD VQ35DE. Whats modified on the IM is JUST the tube where the TB goes. Since my engine is turned sideways, the tube was facing the radiator. lol so it was cut off and a new one was made and angled correctly. How about this....How much to get the lower collector ported?

I'm wondering if I could find one local to experiment on first. I've done a bunch of stuff in my old market (Cobalt SS stuff), only nissan I've played with is my boy's QR25, did the head and manifolds while I had the motor apart for the build.

The lower half is the same for both apps, right?

Well appearance wise, but the way the lower plenum bolts to the lower collector is different than the way the IM from the FWD version bolts to the lower collector. As far as practice, yeah they are the same nearly in appearance.

Unfortunately, this isn't much of a technical forum. There is info here, but it's rare and buried under mounds of crap.

If you wanted to send me the manifold to work on, i'll give it a good workover for cheap, just as a practice run from my view. I don't know how well I can match-port to the heads though, I don't have a set to compare to. Let me know.

Here you go!

Also I'm doing the same thing on my VQ35 swapped maxima. I cut the neck off already and just need to weld a straight one on next. Good luck.

Here are some pics. These pics are a mock up on the other SER I have that I have been parting out. These were the 1st pics i took of it, and since then it has been in the process of being "beautified" and powder coated. Went with 5/16 spacer set...Motordyne, and the upper/lower IM has been port matched as well as smoothed out inside the IM. Intake will be custom tubing and will be 3" ID. My hood is being cut up to provide adequate clearance for the position that the 350Z IM has to be mounted on our cars. When the hood is done it will look very similar to the 350Z HR, with the bulge in the hood. I am happy. I give full credit to Gene (leathe of heaven) for starting this project and passing it to me to take over.. Always a pioneer! Thanks Gene.

Before i sent it off for powder coating i removed some of the unnecessry tabs fron the lower IM and did some smoothing of the perimeter......

Lol, thanks but uhm I am going for a slightly modified, but still sleeper look for the hood with air being funneled into the filter but much lower in the wheel well where my Fujita F5 CAI presently sit.

Should see nice gains. You got rid of the worst bottleneck of that intake and the welds look good. Let us know how this goes.
