I have had a lot of demand for a set of high flow cats. Mainly because of the "raspiness" that is associated with the straight throught cat pipes we sell. So here is our solution.

I will disclose everything I know about these cats. We get them from an overseas distributor who sells and markets them as high flow cats. They are of great S.S. quality and should last a long time. They are a STRAIGHT THROUGH design converter.....so while we haven't run them on the sniffer, I wouldn't put too much confidence in them passing CA emissions testing. They will pass a visual inspection, and we will do some "smell" opinions later this week.

They do eliminate the "raspiness" that is seen with the normal test pipes. They are also located higher up in the pipe, so they do not lower the car's ground clearance. They still offer all the power gains of our popular cat/test pipes because they have almost zero restriction due to the straight through design.

We will be doing a couple short video clips this week with comparisons between stock, cat pipes, and our high flow cats.

The price is set at $375 for the pair which will also include hardware. We build these to order, so expect about a 7-9 business day wait from order to shipment.

Please give me any feedback you have, either suggestions on these or our normal cat pipes would be appreciated.

Wow, those look great! The only reason I have held off on the Random Tech Cats is the price, but for $375 I can afford it, given that they produce gains like the RT cats and that they don't have any raspiness w/ aftermarket exhausts.

Another great product LSD, thanks a lot for making the 350z aftermarket that much more competitive!!!

Have you guys dyno'ed the test pipes and the new cats? Any numbers?

We never got to personally DYNO our test pipes, mainly because initially we couldnt hang on to any of them, as demand was high. I have had several of my customers dyno them and they have ranged between 4 and 8 peak HP.

These should producce about the same as the have the same flow capabilities.

They look more like resonators than catalytic converters. If they are actual cats, I don't see why they wouldnt pass the sniffer.

Good pricing on the new product! A competitive market always rocks for the consumer.

The cat has no conventional "honeycomb" catalyst that runs through the entire body of the converter, like you would see on a stock cat or even a high flow cat. Even high flow cats have the honeycomb material that runs through the entire body. They just have a higher flow capacity with less restriction. The exhaust gases pass through the honeycombs. These have no such honeycombs, as they truly are a straight through design. This means much better flow characteristics but that also means less fuel is burnt off.

I don't know the individual emissions levels of each state but I am in the most strict, California. If your main concern is to pass emissions with no problem, I would recommend the Crawford High flow cats. I cant say whether they will pass emissions in all 50 states, as I have no clue, nor will I ever have any way of determining each states emissions levels.

There is a trade off with every mod. The test pipes we have sold gave GREAT value for the performance gained, but many thought the sound was too aggresive for them. So these offer the same performance gains, but without trading off the quality of the sound.....but the trade off is that they cost more than our test pipes.

We think what we have here is a great alternative to test pipes and a flat out great product for an AWESOME price.

Right now the wait would be about 7-9 business days, or 2 weeks to be safe. We are trying to get our CNC cutter up and going, which will definately lower the price of our test pipes and allow us to have an actual stocking level in the near future so there won't be any more waits.

OK, so if there isn't a honeycomb, what are those 4" long sections? Resonators? Gutted cats? If there is no cat, how would it be any different from a test/race pipe?

The pipe runs straight through, but as it runs through the body, the tubing becomes perforated and the catalyst packing runs between the perforations and the outside of the converter body.

Maybe tomorrow I will cut one open and see exactly what kind of packing it is.
