LOL that hpipe flaw was pointed out a long time ago. I purchased the hks long ago and besides the fact it weighs more than the stock exhaust, it also sounds like *** and is just a peice of crap exhaust. My hks had this horrible whistle noise when my z was running and it drove me nuts. I figured the flawed hpipe in there is where the whistle was coming from.

the only exhaust i have EVER owned that literally FELL APART on my old daily driver z32was authentic HKS. FELL... APART.
Believe that there is quality variance in every product line form any manfuacturer.

SOrry bro. HKS over knockoff? Sure.
It fits better.
Super cool. It could have saved me 100 bucks in fix it costs for fixing my exhasuts poor fitment.. but it sounds the same... wait.. and costs more than twice as much. I may get a cool sticker w it tho..

The news is that knock off or not, it uses glass pack straight thru technology, and that looses effect after time and build up, period.. they get louder.

HKS or not. Age made the diff between you and your buddys exhaust.
If you have the $ for a 1500 dollar exhaust that is literally not much better than the knock offs, i cant fault you in the least for that.
But advising others who are quite apparently shopping far under that budget to save up and ultimately spend twice as much is generally bad advice inthis instance.

FOr the same price, these guys could call Pete, buy his exhaust, JWT intake, a set of springs, rear camber bars, toe delete bolts and have all installed by them as well. I bet you Im down to the dollar on the same price almost...
What makes more sense?

I say this all as I own a knock off HKS.. and it looks really cool... and sounds like @ss, and lost low end butt dyno power all day long and the right side can didnt fit well as is usually the case.

Same as authentic HKS aside from one thing, the fitment issue.

Oh, the tips are indeed FAR nicer than mine tho. But they all get covered in soot anyways.

Just sayin to each his own.. and getting rid of the H pipe ( on HKS OR knock off) is a very smart choice in leiu of the res'd x pipe form Magnaflow. Even the real deal can benefit from this big time. Thus making the benefit between real and knock off even slighter as they still both need the same band aid to be welded in.

All things to be pondered for those who are really scratching thier heads on what to buy..

This thread has me thinking now. I don't think I am going with either authentic nor knockoff anymore. Seems like a motordyne would be a better purchase. That being said, I just installed a hks on my buddy's 370z and it fit perfect and sounds great but some some of the included bolts already have surface rust on them after about a month or so...

i did not give bad advice, its the truth... why cheap out and buy a FAKE HKS that SOUNDS LIKE A$$, then rusts up and LOOKS like it just came out of someone's A$$, and then they sharted those caca looking tips

I say this all as I own a knock off HKS.. and it looks really cool... and sounds like @ss, and lost low end butt dyno power all day long and the right side can didnt fit well as is usually the case.
Sounds like A$$, exactly ... from day one!.. i agree 100%

Tips dont get covered.... you can see the caca brown tips all day

This i will agree on..
.
my reply is up top in BOLD

i already made a post about the quality of hks in another thread, but to sum it up... HKS HAS GONE DOWN HILL... im lucky i didnt get that pipe problem but i did get the Sloppy welds

that is why you NEED to inspect your product when you get it, if your not happy SHIP IT BACK... buy from a good vendor and ull be problem free... i would even ask if they can Open that Shizz up and inspect it before they send it...lol...

just buy the real thing, not a knock off, YOU WILL BE much happier in THE END....... plus in todays market we cant forget about Motordyne... now thats a nice exhaust

GL

If you have $1500 to spend on an exhaust, why not Motordyne? I wouldn't touch HKS when Tony has quality options on the market.
