This is indeed a great thread. Pretty much everything was covered. I bought the Stillen v3 intake during the black friday sales. Stillen has always had the prestige to me so it was a no contest decision. But when I did get it and began installing it I was plagued with fitment issues. The "brackets" to hold the filters in position are just terrible. They would not hold the pipe in position; and because the driver side pipe coming off the manifold does not have the bend like the passenger side (or the Injen design) there was rubbing. My pipe also got scratched even after trying very hard to prevent it. After seeing the Injen design, with bends on both sides, and the solid mounts to locate the filter; I often wonder what could have been...

I wondered as well - so much that I just had to change....which led me to creating this thread. Well worth selling the Stillen's for Injen's. It really makes me wonder why Stillen decided to go down the minimalistic road for our platform. I somewhat feel bad, as this thread basically promotes Injen and illustrates the flaws in Stillen's design, but facts are facts. Josh@Stillen, if you are reading, why not change the design and make a V2 edition of your intakes to 1-up your competitors? Too expensive? Patent issues? Not worth the time?

Update: I've been running the hydroshields (in rainy Oregon) for about 5k miles......filters still look BRAND NEW. Definitely worth utilizing, compared to an exposed filter, which I had on my Stillens. Those got pathetically dirty, which I am sure killed any power gains the intakes provided in the first place.

Ok, so minor step back...Got everything Saturday, but Injen didnt have the couplers in the package...so I'm kinda stuck until I either find some at a local store, or when injen/motorsport auto opens on Tuesday...

Other than that, side by side the injen intakes seem to be a bit better in the quality contest...

Or you PM'd me the picture links with authorization to use them back in October, in exchange for a gift card, with instructions to just call in when placing the next order or to make some notes on the online order so we could apply that.

We were unable to apply it as a credit on your most recent order after the fact when everything had been processed, as the person entering the order didn't know, so I apologize for that, and I'll pull them down. Bummer you didn't want to use that on something else.

We sometimes do a gift card for good customers who have photos we can use, it's not the norm. I'm sorry the form was a hassle, if you had advised us of that, we wouldn't have posted the photos, and we've removed them. We can get them from another customer. Sorry for the confusion, and somehow upsetting you with it. We didn't break any rules.

Now a days it"s all to common to have our pictures stolen. This is why shops tag their photos to help prevent this and detour those from doing so. It's theft! Your photo's could be misrepresented.

If you would like to give permission and sign off on it, that's the correct way to do it. It sounds like this didn't happen in this case.

It sounds to me like there was something lost in translation.

Kuhan, if you sent Josh the pics and said use them, then just because you didn't fill out their authorization form, doesn't mean your permission wasn't given. Stillen was doing that for both their protection and yours.

Just chill. I really don't think a company like Stillen would need to steal pictures of their own parts.

Injen Long Tube Intakes

I got these installed today after getting them back from powder coating today...I absolutely love the look of the "wrinkle black".

As far as quality, these Injens are superior to my old Stillen's. The piping seems to be nicer and the fit is perfect. I had to zip tie my Stillen intakes to keep them from rattling. Don't get me wrong, I really was impressed with both intakes, and both make about the same power. The major thing that I love about Injens are that they actually fit with no issues, no rattling, very sturdy for long tubes, and look great! The pipe size on the Injen intakes are just a little bit larger than Stillen, which is a nice touch as well. Again, I felt no difference power wise between the Injens and the Stillens, so its really a win win with both intakes. Lets all remember, these are just pipes with filters LOL...but I am a bit overboard when it comes to my cars and I want everything to be perfect.

All in all, after owning both intakes, Injen would be my choice due to quality and looks. Please don't think I am bashing Stillen though, because their intakes are very nice as well, and both make very impressive power for intakes.

Enough of my over thinking jibber jabber...On to the pics:

Niceee powder coat job on the intakes. Clean ride. I'm jealous

You mentioned that the intakes provided about the same power increase. Based on the dynos I've seen they only seem to make a difference up top vs stock (like 6K+ RPM). Would you say you can personally feel the difference between stock intakes and the Injens at high revs?
