Default help my debate on exhaust

First i would like to say i have searched thisforum and others like crazy for information. I got what i needed but i mainly just want others opinions on this since i am new to the 350z crowd. Please do not bash me in this thread or any other disrespectful remarks. Thank you kindly.

So my stock exhaust is rusted pretty darn bad. Just the exhaust though and nothing else. It looks terrible so im looking for a new exhaust.

A guy on here offered me an INJEN TRUE DUAL TRACK EDITION for $485 shipped. The exhaust is perfect with nothing wrong with it. No dents or scratches. I have heard from others that this exhaust has some rasp and drone to it, but then others say its the best. All opinions will vary from person to person. But maybe i can get some first hand experience from owners who have had this exhaust now or previously on their 350z.

Is this a good deal for the exhaust or should i wait for another used exhaust to come up for sale on the forum? Im trying not to spend more then $800 for now used. I want a true dual exhaust with a good solid nice tone to it. Not sounding cheap or like a rice burner

Thank you for all who took their time to read this and for being respectful, it is greatly appreciated.

in my opinion, Borla is the best all around in terms on weight, sound, drone, and power gains. yes, my opinion may appear biased, but i did about a year and a half of research before making up my mind on the Borla. Others will say HKS or Motordyne, but I like my borla the most out of all the exhaust i have heard and read about. It is quieter than many after market exhausts, but that can be easily fixed with either test pipes or high flow cats. The Borla does not sound ricey, or high pitched, but rather a semi-tame low rumble at idle and a strong healthy sound at wot. hope this helps. good luck.

I am not excited about used exhaust. Used could mean 1,000 or 50,000 miles. Stress in parts such as support brackets and you will never see potential damage.

A car running rich or burning oil will deteriorate resonators and mufflers. You cannot inspect either.

The discounted price is not worth the risk.

I and other members have written INJEN TRUE DUAL TRACK EDITION critiques with photos. Search is your friend.

For sound and performance... custom is always great.

I've heard good things about Borla, HKS, Greddy, etc.
Check the sounds clips on Youtube of each brand.
I personally have the HKS Hi power. It looks and sounds great.
What I don't like about the Borla is that it looks too much like OEM.
But then again, some people like it for that same reason. It's up to you.

I haven't really heard any exhaust for the Z that sounded 'ricey'.

IMHO. There's no exhaust that sounds aggressive, low, and mean enough right out of the box.
Mix and match combinations of exhaust + test pipes / HFC's = the deep sound we're all looking for.

Depends on what you are looking.

I think Motordyne has the most gain (dyno proved)
Greddy is ok nothing too special to me, I still like it tho (old set up)
Agency power is SUPER loud and light comparing to my old greddy.

My next exhaust is going to be the Invidia Gemini. It's a true dual and under your $800 mark, brand new. It will be more quiet than the the Injen, but with no rasp, as it incorporates resonators on the Y-Pipe and utilizes an X-pipe as well.

You can pick one up from a vendor here (PM him for a better price)

Its taken me quite along time to get them straight. All of my previous cars i put thousands and thousands of dollars into, but then never really got to do much because all my money went to my cars (before i got married a year and half ago). My RSTI had roughly $25k into it. But being married changes priorities. My wife and her education (she is pre-med) along with spending time with her and putting money towards vacations for us is more important. Saving money rather then spending it on my car is far better.

All in all thank you for your help and showing me this exhaust above. Later down the road i might get one.

cheers to all

I have motordyne so I'm going to be a fanboy of it....love it.
However, I will say that I researched almost every possible exhaust for a couple months before I came to my decision on motordyne.
The injen were one of my choices and I think $500 is a good deal. As long as you have some good picks you should be able to determine how used an exhaust is to some extent.
I would stay away from the borla as there are way too many pieces and I have heard they are prone to leaking and such. (I will say they do have a nice purrrr tho!)
Other than that you really need to make the decision yourself. You may be really hot on one and then all of a sudden read a review that turns you away.
Youtube and the forums are your friends. Just keep in mind no matter how many youtube videos you watch it is always going to sound different once you get it on your car. As someone else stated there are hundreds of different combos w/ all the y-pipes,x-pipes, tp's, hfc's etc etc.

As far as motordyne I feel it has a deep but very loud note at WOT. Never any rasp which is what really sold it for me. Install was 2.5 hours w/out a lift. From the time I jacked it up till i got it back on the ground. I will say my stock exhaust wasn't rusted at all which made things easier.
I have a bunch of pics from the install and some sound clip vids I just gotta get to puttin them up.
Def. would recommend the exhaust though...if you have any questions let me know.

I have the Injen track edition dual and I love it. I drove around for a few thousand miles with the stock cats and then swapped in Berk test pipes which I have in now. The exhaust itself is on the loud side and now obviously much louder with the TPs. The sound without cats is very deep and throaty. I still get compliments on how it sounds with the TPs but they do create some rasp only during WOT within roughly 3k-4.5k rpms. I don't know if it's my imagination or not but it seems like the rasp has gotten better since the TPs were first installed. I'm not sure if I'm just getting used to it or if they get better over time. With and without TPs it drones on the highway under about 1800 rpms.

Unfortunately I'm not a big fan of used parts so if I was in your shoes I wouldn't go for this deal.
