Decided to mess around today. Titanium intake!!
Picked up some titanium 3" tubing today to make my exhaust and decided to make an intake real fast. Thing is amazingly light. Not as light as aluminum but when compared to stainless is probably 35%-40% lighter. I used .065" wall which is borderline thick for exhaust tubing. Welding was kind of a ***** and takes a lot of prep but I got it all welded up once I got going. Here are some pics. Notice different colors in different lighting. It looks even better in person..
Here it is all tacked up

Haha too much for what it is. Materials cost me $160. I was doing it more for testing the material from a new supplier.
Ruthless18x, I am using the stock air box right now so I am using stock maf. I plan on going 67mm turbo after summer with some titanium goodies so this piece will be tossed or sold.

Is it going to be a short or CAI? What kinda filter will you be using?
I remember when I was in highschool I went to the local hardware store and bought silicone sleeves, clamps, metal pipes, vaccum hose, elbows to make a custom CAI for a 96 mitsu galant.
Forget paying 230 plus for an intake...
In for finished product

An aluminum version like that is going to be a project of mine soon with the popcharger velocity stack welded to the end. Then also locate the MAF about 6 inches closer to the throttle body.
