I have X02 (an HKS replica) and going with matching 2.5" TPs, got rid of the bad rasp. That with a Skunk2 spacer also made it a much deeper tone, so the drone was more reasonable since it's more like a low, rumbly bass instead of bumblebee fart cannon.

What other breather/exhaust mods do you have or is it just the exhaust?

if he is talking about the magnaflow x muffler then it replaces the 2 resonators at the h-pipe section.

+1 the Magnaflow x muffler. My setup also has 2.5" ERZ HFCs.

If the HKS replica drones, does that mean its helmholtz resonators (the side branch canisters) are basically flawed in design? basically, it looks like hks, but inside, it's not actually constructed like one?

Its more of the H pipe. Its more restrictive and the resonator in the design produce the drove after the H pipe.

Im curious tho to cut the helmholtz resonator up and see whats inside the knockoff vs. hks.

One thing i was thinking was get a Y pipe connect to a Magnaflow muffler with single in dual out. Connect the two branch exhaust pipe from the dual out. I think this would eliminate all drone from the hks or atleast the knockoff.

nah, Ive had a HKS clone.
Best thing to do is cut off the Resonators from the y pipe and weld on a magnaflow resonated x pipe with dual inlets and outles...not only does it kill the drone.it brings back that VQ sound from the Z.

X pipe is like 80-90$ and to weld it on shouldn't be more than 60$...(cost me 30)

Trust me,Everyone else who has done it will agree with me

Make sure it has the true perforated X core.

Part number is 14386

I found the cheapest one here:

The helmholtz pipe is functional. We did numerous tests with and without it. I don't know about other companies but we have been utilizing the Helmholtz resonated pipes with great success. This also might help you understand the characteristics on what is going on in these chambers.

they should be able to as long as they have all the proper tools. Make sure everything is welded fully all around the connecting points. With a MIG it is hard to see where the gaps are.
