Lightbulb Please post your intake, exhaust setup and boost levels here

12SECZ's setups

Borla Headers; RT Cat Pipes; Borla TD catback
Crawford Plenum; EGT tap pre cat in the cat pipe with bung.

6500Rpm's with Crawford 6.2 lbs at 7 lbs (setup is history this was with DFMU.) This is for reference only and is history. From here on out all numbers are with reflashed ECU and 7100 rev limiter.******

6600RPM's w/o DFMU @7 LBS 7.2 lbs (didn't push it) egt 650 degrees

6600RPM's w/o DFMU @ 9 lbs 9.4 lbs EGT 800 degrees backed off, VERY LEAN

6600 RPM's with Crawford @ 9 lbs yet untested waiting on plenum and reflash.
*****

EJ
i can't reach 6600 rpms with pre-ignition, but i've got a stock everything except for the Procharger.......7.6 lbs of boost@6488 RPMs.......that may be inaccurate due to IC hose leak

Daking

ATI Procharger- 6.5psi@6600rpms with Test pipes and Borla True Dual....375rwhp@12.03:1 A/F at REDLINE..11.3-12.03 A/F all the way...(asked ATI why my PSI was only 6.5 lbs and was told due to the exhaust and pipes flow the pressure better????)

Trying to formulate a pattern of boost levels with open exhaust and plenums: Will Update in 3 weeks.

Updated 1-2-04

Comming soon...9psi with larger injectors/pump and piggyback...
Comming after that....Forged engine with 20+psi of boost for 600+whp... Hopefully..

You guys seeing a trend here? It seems that the ATI kit does not provide the same boost level on all cars its installed on. I dont buy the exhaust excuse for low boost levels personally. How about everyone else? If I and EJ are getting well over 7psi at less than 6500RPM this could explain why the detonation issue and leanout is worse on our cars. Is there a way to get more data on this subject?

I have changed, I started a good thread!

Let's get this straight.

I am getting PM's and public accusations of hiding and using 4 email handles. I have one handle here 12secz and the Admin gave it to me. Is that clear enough Andrew?

In fact you ANDREW PM'd me for help knowing I was Max asking for help on Richard! So that is the true story. Can we move on now? Everyone knew I was Max anyway right?

That was the point of my thread, I am 2 steps away from new numbers tomorow the Crawford goes on then it is down to just a reflash, that's it.

Back on track and updated, whether it is intake or exhaust it is varied and the teeth on the pulley sets from ATI may vary from state to state based on elevation. Let's say you live in New Mexico. If your car makes less or more boost with the 7 pound kit they will give you the proper pulleys to make the proper amount of boost they advertise.

Now that I have clarified that I did nor hide, that Admin asked me to not be Max and I abided can we move on?

I will begine again with a question.

I can make boost 1-2 pounds at 2800 3k rpm's with either 7 or 9 pound pulleys. Can anyone else duplicate this? I am reading the boost numbers from the guage.

If I am just an idiot simpleton to dumb to participate in working on this FI just say so and I will bow out for good. Fair enough? I am only trying to help those who, like myself are not Engineers and deal in laymens terms.

swinke might be able to duplicate that.....his boost is starting at 2250 RPMs........it sounds like he may be one of the lucky 9 pound recipients......making 8.5 pounds total with his kit so far

please ignore the sh*t-slingers Max.....we can finish this conversation and we'll just ignore anybody that comes in here with some unrelated nonsense, agreed?

Agreed,

OK then here are my exact 9 lb pully specs.

Pulley 1 of 2 #25 stamped on it, 8 inches round, 25 teeth exact
Pulley 2 13 inches round stamped # 41, 41 teeth exact.

Uh a big duh on my part I just noticed lol.

The amount of teeth matches the number stamped inside your pulley haha, how is that for Rocket Science. That kills me.

I am tired, long night; gonna crash.

Will post 7 pound specs and numbers after I get up.

I still am laughing though counting these tiny teeth, 6 months after the kit little old idiot me notices the teeth numbers are stamped on the pulleys haha! Didn't even need a technical notice or anything just kinda looked at them. I guess the KISS principle isn't always bad eh?

See you later with the 7 pound numbers and sizes because my question number 2 is now.

Does our pulley size and teeth number vary by state or elevation? If not why? Wouldn't it have to to make 7 pounds as claimed in all environments? Sounds dumb that's me but is it possible California pulleys are different than Upstate New York Pulleys?

Where you have 38 27 (those two change the boost) I have
7 lbs I have 38 26
9 lbs 25 41

Does the diameter play a role in this because pulley one only changed by one tooth (see above) but the diameter is a full inch.
Does that make sense? I am talking about your 27 tooth pulley if we all have the same pulleys then that pulley (27) should measure exactly 8 inches in circumferance. Anyways my engine is all tore apart right now lol, I have a buddy here to put on my Crawfors and Samco's (thanks again Vic for those.) and a few suprises. Pics will be posted on my new website I am building if I get time, 5 hours sleep ain't cutting it and back to the grind in 8 hours. http://home.surewest.net/mailmax/index.htm

My best attempt to standardize the pulley tooth count would be to reference the photo below on which pulley is which.

I hope this makes sense. The idea of having 4 pulleys 2 big 2 small (like I have) makes for many variants ib boost levels

OK missed your second photo pulleys 3 and 4 are irrelevant they just spin I believe all of ours are the same

On mine above the numbers I post for 7 and 9 are what you are calling 1 and 2. It is starting to sound like you have 7 pound pulleys so question 3.

How cold is it there?

Thanks Man, I am in and out of the garage

Max,

Since the belts use teeth to transmit the torque, the pulleys diameter and tooth count will be directly related. Since the tooth pitch (the distance between each tooth) on the pulley needs to match the pitch of the belt, the only way to fit more teeth on a pulley is to also increase the circumference. Therefore as long as you guys all have belts with the same pitch, you would be able to compare pulley sizes either by the number of teeth or by the diameter.

It has always been my understanding that a cog belt is the same as a chain for the reasons that Doh mentioned.

The day I did the logging that we have been talking about it was 32-35. Elev is +500 or lower. Humidity is typically high here. www.weather.com enter 27858 area code. Hot today, 72 and sunny.
