Default AEM CAI Installation Problem on RHD

Hey guys!

My having epic difficulty fitting my new AEM CAI on my 2004 Coupe. After following the instructions to pin-point accuracy I can't fit the filter at all. Where the intake pipe goes down into the plastic lining between the wheel and the body, there is a water bottle there that essentially, takes up ALL the space. The pipe even contacts the bottle, so its not like it can be squeezed on.

Any help really appreciated, I've already sent an email to AEM but I have yet to receive a reply and can't drive the Z either as it is in pieces

what year Z?
Sounds like an hr with dual throttle bodies.

If its a DE, then the cai should go in the driver side wheel well, the washer fluid tank should be in the passenger side. Dont know since youre in africa.

Ah, apologies. Its the DE, single intake. Our driver side is your passenger side. So is there anyway around the problem?

Wow lol, looks like either get a short ram intake or remove your washer fluid tank

O___O! Dayum, alright. Thanks guys, I'll just have to get a new pipe fabricated to move the filter into the bumper through the air inlet hole then.

I would think your TB would still be on the same side.

Can you post pics?

Well hang on a sec, as a member asked can you post a pic of your engine bay? Might be able to return your AEM and get a different shorty kind. Not sure if you can reverse the kinds we use, not sure if it will exactly mirror the bend. Or, don't CAI's come as two piece, can you put the filter where the bottom half of the CAI attaches?

the way the piping should be is a pipe comes out of the TB. then the MAF housing then the pipe that goes into the hole. just put the filter at the end of the MAF housing

AEM makes the Nismo CAI.
They are essentially the same.
Possibly a Nissan dealer in your area
can give some input.
I too would like to see a pic.
I'm not up on S.Africa driving...right side,left side of
the road.Obviously your Z is set up different than a U.S.
model(water bottle).

the engine bay is affected by the steering column.
RHD cars require different parts, and while the engine plenum is the same, i bet you 10 to 1 that the steering column issue changes the sides much of the peripheral parts mount, even out to the radiator core support. if hes following the directions to the T and his wiper fluid tank is there, then theres your issue.. it woudl apparently be the opposite of a USDM car.

Hey guys! Sorry for not replying sooner. As mentioned earlier, its the headlight washer fluid bottle that sits there in our versions. Just removed it and installed the system. Didn't snap any pics though, only real hassle was securing the wiring harness out of the way. Many thanks for the replies!

Its running like a bausss now. It previously had an SRI that worked rather stupidly, whole system essentially held on by one massive clamp.
