Default Most restrictive part of the cat back?

I'm looking to build a piecemeal exhaust system. Right now I have the TDX2 with ART pipes and while I LOVE the sound at WOT, it is a little too loud for my taste.

I'm now thinking about keeping the ART pipes and XYZ-pipe portion (and getting the resonator add on for it), but replacing the mid pipe and muffler with either the stock equipment or something with a similar loudness (maybe the s-tune). The thing is, I want to have as much of a power gain as possible while keeping it as quiet as possible.

If I keep the stock muffler/mid pipe, will that be a significant bottleneck in power? Or is the y-pipe a bigger bottleneck? Would I see any kind of difference in power between the s-tune midpipe/muffler and stock midpipe/muffler (again, assuming I'm keeping the XYZ)? Any other recommendations?

Restriction would be minimal if even noticeable. Most simple solution would be a Nismo with ART pipes.

Got a strange feeling that exhaust volume and velocity have been discussed a number of times in the past 5 years.

i think you should have a fully custom dual exhuast built complete with properly tuned long tube headers, x pipe, expansion chambers and pipe lengths for max power =P

course i could be crazy

Why don't you just order the resonated mid section for the TDX2?

You'll need to speak to Tony for it.

You've also posted quite a number of unhelpful, snarky comments in the past 5 years.

I searched before I posted BTW, and didn't find anything regarding my specific questions. But thanks anyways.

Interesting, I didn't even know they made this. Thanks.

David he's right you know. Your total contributions to this forum have been a total of "im going to make fun of you now".

OP Contact Motordyne. They have silencers for their exhausts. Or you could buy ones that fit... I think v2 has a 3.5" tip, an egay search should yeild some cheap ones that work. If those alone still aren't enough, just pack a bit of steel wool (you can get a piece for $1 at the dollar store, or a bunch for a couple of bucks from the hardware store) around the silencers before you screw them in. That should help quite a bit.

I did contact Tony and he sent me a silencer without even asking (as an aside, Tony has had amazing customer service in every transaction I've ever had with him, seriously) but I've decided that it's not really worth it to me to run this nice exhaust with a silencer. Better to just sell it to someone who can enjoy it for what it is, as it's a beautiful exhaust, just not quite right for me personally. Once I get it off the car I plan to have it up for sale in the classifieds here, so if anyone is interested they can look for it in about a month or so.
