Pop charger issue
After waiting a long time I finally bought myself my first z. I got an 03 touring or mans sunset with 67k in awsome shape. A few days ago I installed the pop charger. I really love the sound of it but it feels like I lost a little. It of power off the line. I will probably just put the stock airbox back in because I love the quickness off the line but is there anything I can do to get it back to the quickness of the stock airbox while keeping the pop charger? Thanks!
You might want to give the car some time to adjust to the new increased amount of air flow. People normally suggest resetting your ecu so it can adjust to new changes. After I put on the HR y pipe and y pipe back exhaust, the car didn't feel right until a few days later when it adjusted properly. Give it some time and see what you think.
I have been looking into this as well. The only think keeping me from ripping it out and throwing the stock airbox back in is I love how it sounds. I have been looking into plenum spacers. If I got a spacer would that bring my torque back to how it was with the stock airbox? If they are worth the money what spacer would you recommend? Thanks for the help.
The OEM air box does a damn good job with a K&N.I have a PopCharger.Did not experience any power loss although many have reported what you have encountered.
As mention, give your ECU a chance to readjust.Would have been a good idea to disconnect your battery before installing the JWT.You may want to disconnect the negative battery pole, wait overnite to reconnect.See what happens.
A plenum spacer is a good move.Basically its a piece of metal.Even though some guys will debate, all spacers pretty much workk the same.I have a Z1 spacer that cost me about $135.It works just as good as spacers costing twice as much.
Don't expect neck snaping performance from these bolt ons.Adding a cat back
exhaust system, maybe test pipes or HFC's, would be traditional mods.Get a tune after
all these ingredients to make everything work together.
You should get a more responsive Z!

Click on spacers. You probably want a 5/16" spacer. The OEM strut bar will clear the plenum. All the hardware comes with the spacer(bolts etc).
Its a easy install as long as you keep track of all the connections.
If you are not comfortable about install, have it done for you.You also may want to replace your tube going to the throttle body.I'm running a Berk
Z tube(check my veh pics for the set up).

If everything was installed correctly you most likely are feeling a placebo effect.
The difference in HP is not something that you can accurately gauge without putting it on a dyno

by far to me the best mod I ever did was putting the OEM air box back on. After I installed plenum spacers the noise maker of a popcharger is worthless. Unless you want to listen to a slight whistling noise. But if I wanna hear a whistle I'd slap turbos on it and cry over being broke.
yeah you probably did lose hp/tq because all the popcharger does is heat soak. worst intake on the market. but cheap and sounds cool so everyone gets it and says it does wonders

No one will listen tho..
sure...the ECU reset will let it re learn towards the factory targets, but those targets are still going to run the car towards lean w those mods.. unless determination and will power have been proven to chage the properties of ECU software lol.
It just is what it is.

PLENTY OF THREADS ON ALL OF THE abOVE OP>>> NO ONES GOING TO REHASH IT ALL IN THIS THREAD ALONE THO.. NOT MAD, JUST SAYIN..WERE ALL BORED HUNTING FOR GOOD THREADS TODAY, OR WED JUST BE FLAMING YOU LOL.
