Default Trying to decide between a few exhausts

Alright, so the time has come for me to finally get an exhaust for my 2006 enthusiast that I've had for a year. I am down to 3 choices and just want what will give me the best gains and what will be the easiest to install.

Options:
1) *used* Megan Racing single exhaust with Megan y pipe
2) *new* HKS replica dual exhaust (Godspeed)
3) *new* Topspeed exhaust

I like the sound the best from the Megan exhaust and I like the look the best from the Topspeed but the Topspeed is also the most expensive and doesn't come with a y pipe and it's not a true dual. The HKS is kind of my last choice because it doesn't sound the best and, to me, doesn't look the best compared to the others. I would obviously like to get new but the used Megan exhaust would be sweet because it comes with the y pipe. Anyone know which one would give the best gains? Any advice?

Unless you mod the HKS replica, it will drone terribly. I have it, but I had a Magnaflow x-muffler welded in it and it's a lot better. If you're on a budget, why not just go with Megan? I would just make sure it doesn't drone like the HKS knockoff.

I had a HKS knock off back in the day and loved it. I'm not sure who made it but it was when they first started to clone them. The sound was great. Now I have the JIC titanium, although I like it because it's lighter, the sound isn't that cool. And I had to add in the XYZ pipe to finish it off.

HKS replica is known to drone and rust on the tips.

The Megan is a knock off of the AP. It does sound good no lie, but it's a Megan exhaust!

Topspeed while it sounds good too...only heard it on a supercharged Z it hung crazy low.

Either way it's his car...Op how much are you willing to spend?

well, my wife and I are trying to save for a new car for her and a house in a few years so I'm on a tight budget. No more than $400 so the topspeed is kind of out of the question unless I can get a used one or butter up my wife.

I have a HKS rep (godspeed) and it doesnt drone and has not rusted one bit. I would say get the HKS rep only, ONLY! if you plan on adding a magnaflow x pipe!

otherwise it sounds like ****

Well if you can't do it big...don't do it at all. Since you don't mind buying used, I'd stay on the look out for a real nismo exhaust.

Those three are all garbage. You can get something from AAM, a Greddy TiC single, or a used quality exhaust for nearly the same cost.

If you on tight budget, you probably shouldn't be modding. Go all out otherwise you ain't gonna be satisfied in the end.

Save your money. Exhaust don't gain you much HP on the Z.

Yeah, but letting the VQ rumble out is worth something. I can't stand having a car sound stock. I don't like making a lot of noise, but I have to make some sort of noise, heh.

You don't like the sound of your JIC? I've had mine for a few months now and love it, I too have the XYZ pipe and think it contributed to the sound. I'm hoping ART Pipes make it even better.

OP why not look for something used and keep adding some money to your budget while you keep waiting.

My HKS KO was my favorite of the Z exhausts that I have heard. The JIC is nice, but it sounds like any other fart can. Well, maybe not just like, but the HKS KO sounded muscle car-ish. Deeper than the actual HKS. I thought it had a really cool sound to it. If only the JIC wasn't so much lighter.

You're going to get opinions all over the place, I would start here instead:

https://my350z.com/forum/intake-exha...aders-etc.html

https://my350z.com/forum/intake-exha...cs-sticky.html

If you also search for each of those brands you will fine tons of threads
