so all in all... is JWT PopCharger the way to go? or kn filter?
I don't know why people don't like the Injen, you can convert it to a short tube setup or cold air. I've driven in hard rain and had no problems with the CAI setup. They do sell a rain/dust shield now too if you're worried about it. So far i think the Injen has been great.

no need to get all the accessory pulleys... just the crank pully and belts will do you find for $234.95 (pulley and belts)...
UR Pulley & Belts
350zdanny... I was agreeing with in general on the intakes... i was never ******* the injen intake... infact our race team uses one... its a great intake... just not for someone concerned about water... the filter does not need to be submerged in water to suffer performance loss... as long as the filter gets some water on it it will be harder to draw in air there for starving the engine... and loosing performance...

In otherwords, any wet is bad.
Put a washcloth over your face and breath through it. Works fine, filters the air.
Now take that same washcloth and wet it, wring it out as hard as you can getting every drop of water you can squeeze out of it out, then put that over your face and try and breath through it.
That's what your engine is trying to do when the filter gets wet and/or dirty.

actually a damp cloth is a much better filter in that situation. trust me, i learned that the hard way.
I understand jason's point, and your point as well jeffrey. I think for now, with my intake, i'm going to concentrate on insulating the top tube and MAF housing from heat. I think that will help the performance of the Injen signficantly. Maybe after that I'll experiment with some RAM intakes.

You're definitely right about that. I think I'll end up with an insulated Injen tube, a filter similart to the JWT one and a heat shield from Injen or custom. It'll be a crazy frankenstein intake. And I'll probably put a Mine's vent in my bumper.

just curous?
why add the Mines Vent in the bumper when the Injen CAI intake filter is down in the front of the bumper...
Unless you are doing the Injen tube as a short ram intake tube...
and if you are doing that... may i sugest two things...
1... If you want to switch to a metal tube, switch to the K&N intake tube, It has an integrated MAF Housing which is quite nice and looks very clean.. you wont have an ugly grey plastic pipe in the middle...
2... To get that JWT filter on the end you need to do some frankenstein work... You might get by easier by doing a dual stack velocity K&N filter of a larger size or even just the one that comes with the K&N Typhoon...
3... Z tube is probably the best "short ram" tube to use on our cars... Over 150 G35 owners that I know of swear by their Z Tube and JWT or K&N Drop In filter combination... You wont experience much heat soak with the stock Z tube... the JWT filter is the largest... and when used with the mines air duct.. I think it is the best designed intake for the Z...
just my opinion... you can flush it if you would like

I got my pop charger Tuesday and installed that evening. Went out for short ride and I'm happy...very happy. The charger makes a low growl low to mid range and it sounds great WOT. I got onto the freeway and just listened to that growl...and the car pulled very nicely, looked at the speedometer and I was doing 100 mph. The car breathed very easily. Seemed to idle smoother too.
I've installed cold air and short ram CAI's on two other cars of mine so I know they all work. The pop charger was by far the cheapest mod you can do with the same results (if not better) of the other CAI's. If looks are important to you then any of the CAI's would suit you. I have to admit I'm glad I got the pop charger.

I've had both the K&N and now have the POP-Charger. As VandyZ points out, I didn't feel much difference in power output, but the sound is worth the price of admission. When I installed the K&N, I did feel a difference. What I am saying is The K&N does put out more than stock, the POP-Charger and K&N are about equal. POP-Charger has the "sound".
BTW, my K&N is available for $25.00 plus $5.00 for shipping if anyone is interested.

I got my POP over a year ago. I don't think I noticed any performance gains but the sound is great, never regreted it. And then when I got the Borla duel exhaust installed it was like, "WOW"! The car sounds so good now and those two mods are a perfect match together. Borla duel really opened everything up too. I noticed a big difference in performance right away.
It's a good setup and you couldn't go wrong.

while were speaking about the prices of aftermarket cai's dont forget that the filters last forever so over time you can save some money by never having to change filters, plus i noticed a 1-2 mpg better fuel consumtion, but to each their own.
Umm I don't know to much about this but I've been wanting to get a Nismo CAI intake. How is the sound from it compared to the JWT Pop charger? Would the benefits over the JWT be mostly looks? And in terms of feeling the benefits, which would be better? I dont want to spend 300 for a Nismo CAI if 120 for the JWT would work just as well.
I do want to be able to say I have Nismo....ehhh
