Not late at all...all opinion and comment welcome, positive or negative.

The goal in this was merely to find a low cost method to mitigate the popchgr from gulping hot air when the car is at a prolonged standstill. I think it is widely accepted and agreed it is not an issue when moving at speed.

+1....please link to the pre-made solution that accomodates the popcharger size for less than $20.

well just keep on keeping on with your crap mods. Just because it is cheap doesnt mean it should be in your engine bay.

JWT provides a heat shield that seals to the hood and looks a million times better.

Stock airbox and a K&N drop in if you really want a CAI in a box.

Your mod is a kick in the nuts to any sane Z owner.

yes the oem airbox is already a ram air type system. Plus the panel allows more air flow versus a enclosed cone that might have trouble.

Also it is good to look for an intake that has a velocity stack. Cobb?s intake uses a velocity stack that smoothens out airflow as its being sucked in to the turbo/engine. This helps reduce the amount of turbulence flowing inside and past the Mass Air Flow Sensor. If there is too much turbulence, it will disrupt the readings and can trigger a check engine light. It can also make your car run ?lean? as the ECU is not able to accurately read the amount of air being sucked in. It can also cause your car to idle rough and in turn make your car run like crap.
The pop charger already has a velocity stack.. I think the ram air was just forcing to much air at high speeds while I was at idle. No telling how much air was just lingering at the maf and had no where to go but yet it kept packing more and more air in when the throttle was closed

By the time you hit 30mph from a standstill , the IAT is back to normal, moments after the car starts rolling the IAT starts to drop. No real need unless your building a serious drag car. I would look into building something like Stillens airbox if I felt I needed something more.

You still need to address where you should be drawing air from.
