Default Nismo CAI Question

I purchased a Nismo cold air intake, and will be installing it tomorrow. I've looked at the instructions over and over, already prebuilt what I can to save time and to go ahead and know what goes where.

But on the lower pipe, near where the air filter goes, there's this hole. It's larger than a quarter, doesn't seem to be referenced in the instructions, and seems to serve no purpose (to my knowledge, which is limited) since it is after the air filter, which makes me think bad stuff could get in there.

Could someone instruct me on what this hole is for? It would greatly appreciated.

I'm at work and forgot to take a picture of it at my house. I'll try to find a pic online, but most pics are stock images, and hardly anyone is gonna get under their car to take a high quality pic of the filter lol.

I'll try though!

Your link doesn't work on this site. Do you mean this hole?

Yes! Not sure what that hole is for. And I want to make sure I don't skip anything when I do the install tomorrow.

Super huge thanks! I read those instructions up and down and didn't see any mention of that. I suppose that's one of those things that most people would know to do. But now I do!

Thanks again, case closed!

Quick update/question on this. Were any of you able to put the fender liner back in after the intake was installed? I tried to put it in and it seemed to press against the filter, and didn't seem like it would fit being put all the way in.

Any info on that part? Besides that, it works great, no problems yet.

Keep adjusting until you can install the liner. Otherwise, you will soak your filter in water.

There is also a small rattle when I slow down after accelerating very hard, then goes away after a few seconds. Does the fender reduce that noise or do I need to tighten things down? It only happens after starting quick then slowing down. Normal driving is perfectly fine
