Default what exhaust is NOT raspy?

I think I,have a Greddy exhaust on my car now, with no cats. It's ridiculously loud, makes it loud in the car too. When I'm at 3,000rpm, it sounds like a Honda running 100mph in third gear.

I want an exhaust that is not raspy, most of all.

Secondary desires include quieter and maybe a bit more of a deeper growl.

I still have the factory cats, but I'm not sure if I can put them back in with the rest of the exhaust.

If you're running test pipes, which is what I figure you have, yes you can put your factory cats back on. This will greatly reduce overall sound and probably fix your rasp problem. If that's not enough for you, look into the Motordyne XYZ pipe with the resonator section to reduce sound and rasp even more.

If you're running the Greddy RS or TI-C, pop the silencers back in and see if it's tolerable.. With stock cats + silenced Greddy, it's pretty quiet. With test pipes + silenced Greddy, it's still pretty loud.

Nismo S-Tune (quieter, but still gives you a growl) or Motordyne TDX2 (slightly loud, but little to no drone due to resonators, clean sound)

The guy I bought the car from said something about motordyne, but I may be thinking of the plenum spacer, cause I know it has that. He said something about a "y" pipe or something, I know it's got test pipes too. I'm assuming the test pipes have the O2 sensor bungs in it.

I have the greddy evo 2 with stock cats, no rasp or drone.
Put test pipes on a month back... sounded like chit, especially at 3k rpm. So unbearable I did not want to drive my car. I'm back to stock cats now and everything all good.

Exhausts mentioned above are all great choices.

With your setup, its easy to understand why your car is LOUD.
No rasp,go with a S-Tune(Fujitsubo same thing)&stock cats.
I've got a S-Tune on my car plus HFC's(Z1).Don't know if was
my imagination, but the car got a bit louder.Rasp has different descriptions.
I see it as a exhaust "overide" much the same as you crankup the volume
and the speakers cannot handle the wattage. They sort of "blurt".
I looked around, found some resonators that mount into the tailpipes.
I've posted this info previously. They are made by Schoenfeld.Come in
different diameters.3" fit the S-tume tips almost perfect.A little grinding
on the resonator lips. Also, have to drill a hole, insert a screw through the
tailpipe to hold the resonators in place. No big deal. The results were zero
rasp but the same or better tone.It sounds very Ferrari like.Sometimes
you got to experiment to get the mix you want.

Pretty much any test pipe or even my ART pipes with Bassani true dual exhaust will have rasp.

It seems though Motordynes xyz pipe reduces this

If I'm not mistaken, the Greddy RS is a dual exit, and mine is single. I bought the car with this exhaust on it, so if there WERE silencers, they are in it or I don't have them. I'm thinking they are in it or it didn't come with them, because the seller said it was louder than he wanted it to be. He would have put them in already if it had them.

That would be a Greddy TI-C Single then. Look at the tip for space for 3 small bolts, there should be holes there. That's for the removable silencer, here's a thread where a guy had the same exhaust (if it's a Greddy) confirming that there's a silencer:

Might get bashed for this, but hands down one of the best things i've ever done to my Z was remove stock muffler and have an exhaust shop weld in straight pipe to the stock tips. Resonator/cats all in place....just simply eliminated muffler.

Kept same stock tone, simply a little louder/deeper. Zero rasp. Gets compliments all the time and people are always asking what i've done to it with a confused face as you see a stock looking setup. Was cheap too..
