Default Exhaust HELP!

Im quite new to the VQ scene, my best friend has had his z for 4 years now, i have had mine for less than a year. Im going to be doing bolt on mods this summer. First thing is the exhaust (already have Pop Charger), Could someone explain to me briefly the fly by on this.. ive been doing some research and would like some forum help.
My Setup im thinking of consists of: Invidia N1 dual tip, Berks test pipes NR. Dont know if this is a good setup or not, i would like some outputs. Im also not 100% sure on what the Y-pipe does, i thought the z had a stock Y-pipe.
If someone could answer me asap it would be great!

Thanks.

It'll be loud. Real loud. And the stock y pipe is pretty restrictive.

Thanks for the reply, and yea thats what im aiming for! :P Just dont want to much rasp... its a Z... not a civic.... and as for the y pipe u think its worth getting? one more dumb question... Invidia n1... in some pics i see the tips with a slight silencer looking thing... Others completely hollow is this the included silencer or is it not fully open?

Again thanks for you time!

OP, I just got my Z and I'm in the same boat as you with finding a good exhaust for my car and after all my research IMO for the price, quality and sound. The Invidia Gemini true dual exhaust is the best bang for the buck and I plan ordering this weekend.

Good luck on your exhaust search.

The N1 will be loud and if you don't get the Y pipe your system will still be restricted.

Invidia N1 has a 2.5" inlet. All aftermarket y pipes have a 3" outlet. So you will be choking up the exhaust flow if you get an aftermarket y pipe. My advice would be to either choose a different exhaust, or just stick with the stock y pipe.

If you're worried about the restriction, I suggest a single exhaust or a true dual. With the N1, you're adding another "Y" section. My favorites are the Motordyne TDX for true dual and the Tomei Expreme titanium for single. My .02

The berk test pipes are great but do increase the loudness by quite a bit. the upgraded y pipes also make a big difference in sound. if you just want a nice tone I would stick with catback.

As already mentioned, the set up you mentioned is gonna be real
loud.Your post did not mention any focus on performance, just sound.
Suggest you start with a catback system with known quality&a sound
that you can expect.A good one is the Nismo S-tune.Go from there
with add ons.HFC's may be a better choice than TP's.

I'm not really going for performance, more the look. I live in Montreal, roads are terrible... but the car scene is huge. But its more of a car show than a race city. So i am looking for that loudness and i want BIG exhaust tips, invidia n1 is closest to what i have found in my price range.

Should've referred to the faq's page first.
I believe there is a thread on a variety of youtube clips of a ton of different exhausts. I would start there.

You can't really get awesome performance from bolt on's so I would definitely go with w.e appeals to you sound wise.

If you really want something "show car-ish" why not be original and go with a custom set up? It'll stand out and be original, look the way you want it, be very very loud and likely cheaper than a convectional set up. My 0.02

That's from what I've heard.
Yes it is difficult but it can help you significantly narrow your search.
From there, just look around for reviews or go to meets and hear other members exhausts.

If you want a setup that sounds aggressive, loud, and doesn't rasp, get ART Test Pipes + Shockwave TDX or TDX2.
