ha ha ha! Do you remember the last thread? 7 pages and no dyno. I wont hold my breath!

I agree. Keep it the way it is. The fact of the matter is this: Crawford plenum has been out for months, and is getting better looking. Each day you hold off the plenum and information on the plenum, more and more people are going to go to Crawford. People get impatient, so I think it is in everyone's best interested, even those with the JIC bar, to go forward with the current design as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality.

Okay, point taken.

Forget the JIC bar and on with the plenum!!

We should be posting some "teaser" pics hopefully by about wednesday, as it should also be sent out that day for some dynos that are to be done on friday.

As sent by PM...

I honestly wouldn't worry about getting the plenum to fit under the JIC. Like you said, less than 10% of people have the JIC; no need to less the performance gain and appearance of the plenum for everybody just to accomodate those 10%. If I had to guess, I would say only about 2% of Z owners have the JIC bar; you would be making your product less appealing to 100% of people, while only gaining 2% more of the market; not worth it at all IMHO. In addition, it would take more R/D time to rework it to fit under the bar, costing more market loss to Crawford over that time. Just my honest thoughts- I say keep it how it is.

Ok I have the JIC Bar and I Would hate to loose it. Yes the JIC is mostly for looks., and that is why i got it. My Z is just not a daily Driver but also a Show car. I compete in Car shows at the local and national Levels. I do not know if I would buy your plenum or not, If i had to lose my JIC.

Yes power and HP gains are important to me, So are the looks of my Engine Bay. I know Several People on the Show car Circuit that have the JIC and I also know it makes an Impact with the Judges. I also know You have to pay to play, so I think offering a plenum that will fit with the JIC is a good idea. Maybe offer 2 plenum's, one that works with the OEM strut brace and one that works with the JIC. I for one would Pay more for a plenum that would allow me to Keep my JIC Brace.

Well, what about Nismo and 350EVO STBs? Will it work with those?

A good number of people use those two versions.

I'm currently running the JIC bar and polished plenum. I'm dissapointed to hear that I won't be able to upgrade as things stand but whether or not it sway me from purchasing would be determined by the gains from the product. If the gains can justify the swap itself, losing the "pretty" polished plenum, lossing some money on the plenum itself and lastly .........not having retained my stock brace to replace the JIC when I put the Plastic plenum on, then yeah........I'd prolly purchase anyway.

For me, I'd essentially lose two big eye catching pieces under the hood, and be without any strut brace in the front.......not sure if that coupled with the cost of your plenum....could be justifyed by 5 or 6 horsepower. But time will tell.

I know I'm not in the majority by any means....but I would hate to lose the JIC strut bar.........

my 2 cents seem to be the same as everyone else....I have stock bar so I don't care about JIC bar. I'd like to keep my engine cover, unless the plenum looks extra cool then I'd run without it.

It would have to put up some pretty impressive gains for me to pay $600 for one, but $100 is easy. I think $250-300 is the sweet spot to sell a ton of them, as long as it gives a 7+ hp measurable gain on the dyno.

and oh yah. PICS

if you have extra room underneath the stock strut bar, how about adding cooling fins to dissipate heat from the plenum some more?

I vote to leave it as is. If I want a nicer looking strut bar, I'll have the stock bar polished.

I would think cooling fins on an object that does not generate heat, sitting in an area that is heat soaked would just allow it to absorb more heat.

However plastic is not really a heat conductor anyway so the cooling fins would be useless anyway.

Cheb, did you overlook that we are talking about the plastic plenum here?

The cooling fins would make production MUCH more difficult so we won't be doing anything of that nature.

Someone mentioned color molded. What do you think about colors? and what colors would you want? I can really think of a decent color for the piece because it wont match any of the paints. I think if you want a really nice looking plenum, then have it painted as this plastic is paintable.
