straight pipe, aka test pipe will give you rasp on a de (you never said what year yours was), if you invest in the motordyne art pipes it will reduce the rasp

I was thinking he meant straight pipe as in nothing in it at all. No cats/resonators/mufflers...

If that's your cuppatea, go for it. Personally I think it would sound like crap and be way too loud. (coming from a guy with a built v8 and a muffler that doesn't do anything to make it quieter and a gutted muffler on his bike)

The muffler is held on with flanges with the Stillen TD exhaust. I would order a pair of flanges, remove the muffler and have a shop build a pair of delete pipes for $50 or so.

it will sound like a late 90s grand am with an exhaust leak...don't do it (it will be obnoxious loud and sound like ****)... testpipe vs hfc is about the same performance except the hfc will let you pass emissions and it eliminates the rasp and engine light. Test pipe has more cons then pros other then the cheaper price. I have the z1 hfc and I love it...spend the extra money and do it once, if you cant afford to make it sound good or do it right then don't do it at all...its a z not a Honda civic lol

I run the stillen true dual with stillen test pipes and I would agree that the exhaust does have a raspy tone.

On my setup there is a section of upper RPMs (5k to redline) that the rasp meets the beat of stillen aggressive tone at the higher RPMs and it sounds really sexy - I'll see about posting an audio clip...
