I'm good with the exhaust, but tuning... the closest UpRev to me is 4 hours away and he charges an arm and a leg (I've heard great things about him though)

It's a myth. We actually have teams of sled dogs.

I absolutely love it. She's my dream car and I plan on buying twin turbos for her about a year or two down the road. As for right now I'm going to do the basic bolt ons and I wanted to start with the exhaust system. I have heard sebring exhausts and I love the deep sound they have and I asked my local performance shop if they could install one and it turns out it would be a universal fit exhaust.
This brings up some concerns for me. I want an exhaust that would free up a good amount of hp as well as have a nice deep sound. Would the universal fit get in the way of my goal? Should I stick with an exhaust that was specifically made for my fairlady?
Thank you for taking the time to read my post
congrats on the ride. i def know the feeling on getting a Z, as this was one of my dream cars as well. 3 years later, it still puts a smile on my face when i drive.

regarding the exhaust, as others have stated, don't cheap out on it, as this can do more harm than good, and anything "universal" is a big no no. the engineers that designed and made these cars know the in's and out's and designed them the way they are for a reason. i would go with a nismo exhaust.

think of it this way: will you be able to jog better with pre-made shoes that you buy from foot locker or with shoes that were made specifically and ergonamically for your feet?

Thanks for your input!
Yea I'm leaning towards the NISMO exhaust
9lb lighter + a meaner sound basically sold me on it
Again thank you for the advice and I will post again after I'm done with stage 1
